Kniha pojednává o historii výpůjček ze španělského dialektu romštiny, tzv. caló, do evropské španělštiny a o vývoji přijímání této parcely slovní zásoby do výkladových slovníků španělského jazyka.

The Sins of Séverac Bablon
Excerpt:"There's half a score of your ancestral halls," said Julius Rohscheimer, "that I could sell up to-morrow morning!Of the quartet that heard his words no two members seemed quite similarly impressed. The pale face of Adeler, the great financier's confidential secretary, expressed no emotion whatever. Sir Richard Haredale flashed contempt from his grey eyes—only to veil his scorn of the man's vulgarity beneath a cloud of tobacco smoke. Tom Sheard, of the Gleaner, drew down a corner of his mouth and felt ashamed of the acquaintance. Denby, the music-hall comedian, softly whistled those bars of a popular ballad set to the words, "I stood in old Jerusalem."

The Triumphs of Eugene Valmont
The Triumphs of Eugene Valmont (1906) brings together tales of the multifarious exploits of Robert Barr's elegant and cunning sleuth, Valmont, a brilliantly ironic parody of Sherlock Holmes. Exhibiting the crucial combination of realism and imagination that characterizes the finest crime writing, the stories exude playfulness and blend mystery and quasi-Gothic thrills with humorous detours and romantic adventure. A notable figure in 1890s literary London and a friend of Conan Doyle, Barr was acutely aware of style as a form of statement and the stories are full of literary effects, commentary on the detective mystery genre, and Valmont's disparaging reflections on English values.

A History of the Czech Lands
A History Of The Czech Lands podává soustavný výklad naší historie od pravěku až po vstup České republiky do Evropské unie v roce 2004. Druhé, doplněné vydání obsahuje bohatý obrazový doprovod (133 ilustrací a fotografií) a 16 map zachycujících územní vývoj českých zemí. Knihu uzavírá nová kapitola, věnovaná událostem let 1993–2004. Dle zahraničních recenzí prvního vydání nejucelenější výklad českých dějin dostupný v angličtině.
