Díky vyspělým technologiím, které si Neomars přísně střeží, generuje hospodářský produkt rovnající se pětině celých Spojených států. To ale není jediná anomálie. Tou zásadní je, že zde mohou pobývat pouze neočipovaní, což na pevnině není možné. Většina obyvatelstva Neomarsu sem z pevniny utekla, protože odmítla čipování.
Po teroristickém útoku spáchaném v Baltimoru vzniklo podezření, že pachatel uprchl na Neomars, a tudíž je třeba tam vyslat někoho, kdo by ho dostal zpátky. Samozřejmě že jsem to vyžral já. Jasně, že jsem byl očipovanej, ale moje šéfová zařídila, že mi pro ten úkol čip vypreparovali. Což ještě bylo zkousnutelný. Horší bylo, že mi nechala naimplantovat úplně jinou technologii. Prý to bude v pohodě. Hmm… už asi tušíte.
