Herečku Antonii Hegerlíkovou si vybavíme především ve spojitosti s rolí laskavé a milující maminky v seriálu režiséra Františka Filipa F. L. Věk. Byla taková i ve skutečnosti. Laskavá, přátelská, upřímná, někdy až trochu naivní. Její život je neskutečná směsice komedie s tragédií. Narodila se v Bratislavě, dětství prožila v Žilině. V době nástupu fašismu na Slovensko za dramatických událostí utekla do Prahy, za komických okolností se dostala na pražskou konzervatoř, působila i v angažmá u krále komiků Vlasty Buriana, neuvěřitelných padesát osm let strávila na scéně pražského Divadla na Vinohradech, v sedmdesáti letech se ještě podruhé vdávala. To je jen zlomek hereččina unikátního života. Vše, o čem se v knize píše, je sepsáno na základě autentických nahrávek. Kniha je podle přání již zesnulé herečky nazvána příznačně Serpentiny, což značí ostré životní zatáčky. Těch zažila Antonie Hegerlíková nesčetně a vzpomíná na ně s lehkou nadsázkou a ironií. Podstatnou část vzpomínek věnuje také setkáním a příhodám s kolegy z umělecké branže.
