Floridští Obituary jsou deathmetalovou stálicí již od roku 1984. Vedeni nelidským, neuvěřitelně zuřivým vokálem Johna Tardyho, nechutně brutálním zvukem kytary Trevora Perese a rytmickou přesností bubeníka Donalda Tardyho definovali v průběhu devadesátých let tvrdou muziku. Jejich studiové desky Slowly We Rot (1989) a Cause of Death (1990) jsou nepopiratelnými klasikami a jejich vynikající živé koncerty a neochvějná oddanost vůči fanouškům z nich udělaly jednu z nejrespektovanějších kapel metalového undergroundu.
