Kniha je súborom myšlienok a fotografií. Týkajú sa štyroch ročných období: jari, leta, jesene a zimy, ktoré symbolizujú detstvo, mladosť, dospelosť a starobu.
Piate obdobie sa ešte neskončilo, trvá 3+3 rokov. Písanie tohto diela mi robilo radosť, ktorá trvala príliš dlho.. Keď som zaspával, tešili som sa na ráno. Keď mi v noci napadlo niečo pekné, hneď som si to zapísal. Celý život hľadám ľudí, ktorí veľa prežili, veľa vedia, a skôr ako odídu, mali by nám to povedať. V knihe spomínam tých, ktorí ma ovplyvnili, aj keď nie s každým som sa mohol stretnúť.
Nevyhýbam sa striedaniu vážneho s veselým, som stále presvedčený, že sa treba často smiať – aj cez slzy. S literatúrou faktu som skončil. V tejto knihe si aj vymýšľam, snívam a hľadám skrytý súvis a nesúvis niektorých udalostí.
Po úvodnom zamyslení porovnávam v prvej kapitole štyri ročné obdobia s ľudským životom. V druhej pôjde o piate obdobie, ktoré netrvá krátko. Do tretej som zahrnul spomienky na tretinu storočia a moje potulky po svete. Štvrtá sa venuje dvom zvláštnym udalostiam z Biblie. Kniha sa končí spomienkou na osemdesiatštyri priateľov, ktorých som mal rád, aj keď už odišli do večných lovísk.

In June 1992 Chris Patten went to Hong Kong as the last British governor, to try to prepare it not (as other British colonies over the decades) for independence, but for handing back in 1997 to the Chinese, from whom most of its territory had been leased 99 years previously. Over the next five years he kept this diary, which describes in detail how Hong Kong was run as a British colony and what happened as the handover approached. Jaromír Nohavica je osobnost, která málokoho nechává chladným: mnozí jej bezmezně obdivují, jiní jej bezmála zatracují. Jediné, na čem se téměř všichni shodnou, je, že to je bohem nadaný písničkář a básník.
Kdo je tedy Nohavica? A jaký je to ve skutečnosti člověk? Je to rebel, hrdina, anebo padouch či slaboch, který se upsal ďáblu?
Kniha s prostým názvem Nohavica, která se na tyto a mnoho dalších otázek snaží odpovědět, je ojedinělá tím, že Přemysl Houda měl při jejím psaní k dispozici Nohavicův soukromý archiv sestávající z deníků, zápisníků, osobních záznamů, korespondence a mnoha dalších dokumentů osobního charakteru, které Nohavica dosud nikomu nezpřístupnil.
