Tato publikace je zaměřena na osobnost Petra Chelčického, originálního myslitele a myšlenkového předchůdce jednoty bratrské. V první části přináší studii o jeho životě a díle z pera ThDr. Jana Rokyty, ve druhé části ukázky z méně známých Chelčického spisů v archaizovaném novočeském překladu (který vznikl ve spolupráci autora s profesorkou Masarykovy univerzity PhDr. Michaelou Hashemi, CSc.). V první části o 136 stranách jsou pojednána základní Chelčického témata (problém světské moci, téma Antikrista, spásy člověka, vztah Chelčického k bibli, sboru apod.), ve druhé - de facto zrcadlově koncipované části - uvedená témata ilustrují ukázky z Chelčického tvorby. Tyto texty jsou lépe srozumitelné než dosavadní vydání Chelčického děl, protože jsou sjednoceny typem mírně archaizovaného překladu odpovídajícího tzv. čtenářské edici. Nutno dodat, že díky uvedené edici má čtenář možnost seznámit se s částí textů Chelčického jednak obtížně dostupnou, jednak dosud vydanou pouze ve staročeské transkripci, která je reálně určena a srozumitelná jen malému okruhu odborníků (sem patří překlady tzv. Pařížského sborníku, které byly vydány v kvalitní odborné edici Jaroslava Boubína).
Čtenáři se tak nabízí možnost samostatně posoudit opravdovost myšlenkového odkazu mistra "Protivy", jak byl Petr z Chelčic svými současníky nazýván.
