Nadler Herbert elsősorban vadászíróként, vadászati szaktekintélyként ismert, de emellett közel húsz éven keresztül nagy hozzáértéssel vezette a Fővárosi Állat- és Növénykertet is. Az általa szerkesztett Természet című lapban az állatkertet népszerűsítő és a korabeli természettudományos eredményekről szóló publikációk mellett például állat- és növénytani érdekességekről vagy vadászati kiállításokról is tudósított a lap, melyben maga Nadler is sok önálló cikket közölt.
Cikkeinek és könyv alakban megjelent írásainak forrását nagyrészt vadásznaplói jelentik, melyeket körülbelül harminc éven keresztül vezetett a kortársai szerint rá annyira jellemző gondossággal és alapossággal. Kötetünk anyagát az Oroszi Sándor által szerkesztett Erdészettörténeti közleményekben korábban már publikált 1935-ös és 36-os éveket dokumentáló naplók képezik, melyekben Nadler akkurátus pontossággal sorolja fel a vadászatai során elejtett állatokat és a felmerült költségeket. Az eseménydús napok mellett, melyeken "a sikernek minden feltétele megvan", a sikertelen napok is feljegyzésre kerültek, amelyekkel a szerző "az ördögnek tartozik", és amelyekből adott esetben szintúgy sok tapasztalatot lehet szerezni.
Ezek az eredetileg részben magyar, részben német nyelven papírra vetett naplóbejegyzések nemcsak jelentős vadásztörténeti dokumentumok, de Nadler erős jellemének, nagy tudásának, tiszta természetszeretetének és megingathatatlan vadászetikájának is pontos mutatói.

Provozování vodních sportů v Čechách, na Moravě a Slezsku je tradičně spjato s vyvěšováním vlajek. Sportovní spolky, a to především ty, které pěstovaly vodní sporty, spolkové vlajky užívaly k výzdobě svých loděnic, při závodech i při jiných příležitostech. K rozkvětu spolkové činnosti přispěl liberálnější spolkový zákon z 15. listopadu 1867. Převzala ho také první československá republika a v novelizované podobě byl účinný i během okupace a po skončení druhé světové války až do roku 1951. V českých zemích vznikly desítky klubů, v nichž se zpočátku pěstovalo veslování, později i kanoistika, jachting, vodní turistika či plavání. Fotbalový pohár
Kniha přináší jako první u nás kompletní historii pohárových soutěží na území Česka. Popisuje podrobně průběh Československého a Českého poháru, ale jde hlouběji do historie, až k vůbec prvnímu pohárovému utkání, které bylo v českých zemí hráno. Tím datem je 21. březen 1909, kdy se Novoměstský SK utkal s SK Letná v rámci Poháru dobročinnosti. Zatímco ligovým soutěžím se už věnuje řada knih, poháru dosud žádná.
Publikace je rozdělena do tří období a šesti kapitol. První éra seznamuje s léty 1909 až 1960, konkrétně obsahuje čtyři kapitoly nazvané Pohár dobročinnosti, Středočeský pohár, Léta okupace a Období pokusů a omylů. Druhá éra je věnována Československému poháru a samozřejmě i národním pohárům v Česku i na Slovensku, popisuje léta 1961 až 1993. Třetí éra se zabývá Českým pohárem od roku 1994, tedy od vzniku samostatného Česka.
Výhodou obsáhlé publikace je její přehlednost, zajištěná jednotnou grafikou. Každý pohárový ročník má shodnou podobu - text, přinášející detailní, mnohdy pikantní informace o průběhu soutěže, kompletní výsledkový servis od prvních kol až po finále a také v drtivé většině fotografii vítězného týmu. Spartou Praha z roku 1909 počínaje a vítězným týmem ročníku 2020, shodou okolností opět Spartou Praha, konče.
Poslední období je doplněno i bohatou obrázkovou výpravou, celkově kniha obsahuje na 200 snímků a více než deset tisíc výsledků.
