Kovács László, a Bölcsészettudományi Kutatóközpont Régészeti Intézetének nyugalmazott tudományos tanácsadója a kora Árpád-korból származó, pontosabban az 1000-1141 között veretett zárópénzű kincsleletek nyomába ered. A szerző számos, a lelet megtalálásának idejére, módjára, összetételére vonatkozó híradást is összegyűjtve, az előkerülési helyek korabeli és mai nevének ábécésorrendjében állította össze a jelen katalógust.
Az olvasó egy új sorozat első kötetét tartja a kezében, amelynek célja a középkori Magyar Királyság, azaz az egész Kárpát-medence 1000 és 1437/1440 között elrejtett zárt, illetve töredékes érmelelet-kataszterének egységes szempontok szerinti összeállítása. A sír- és települési szórványleletek rendszerezését a sorozat nem kívánta magára vállalni, mert az utóbbi évtizedekben egyrészt a nagy felületű feltárások, másrészt a műszeres (fémkeresős) kutatás bevett gyakorlatként történő alkalmazása olyan hatalmas mennyiségű (szórvány)éremanyagot hozott felszínre, amelynek a szakirodalmi adatokkal egyeztetett teljes feldolgozása egyelőre elképzelhetetlen. A kincsleletek esetében azonban a napi sajtóban, a szakirodalomban, az adattárakban és a közgyűjteményekben fellelhető információk teljességre törekvő összegyűjtése, rendszerezése lehetséges.

Výraz biblické mince působí na první pohled jako označení jasně definovaného souboru nominálů z časově přesně omezeného úseku a platící na jednom území. Zájemce však při bližším studiu zjistí, že se jedná o roztříštěné a navzájem nesouvisející skupiny ražeb různých mincovních systémů, platících na územích, která přecházela z jedněch rukou do druhých, a které mnohdy jen nepřímo či po složitém přepočtu navazovaly na předchozí nominálové řady. Zjednodušeně lze říci, že se jedná o podobnou změť ražeb, jaká byla emitována v českých zemích od počátku ražby mincí (od 10. století) až do současnosti s přihlédnutím na geopolitické změny, kterými náš stát procházel. Sigilla, arma, monetae: tři latinská slova, která svou zvukomalebnou úderností a zároveň lapidárností připomínají devízu šlechtického erbu, stejně jako precizně vyjadřují tři pilíře vědeckého díla moravského historika, a především sfragistika, heraldika a numismatika, s jehož badatelskou tvorbou se odborná i laická veřejnost setkává již po několik desítek let. Celofarebná kniha pútavým spôsobom opisuje pôsobenie slovenských bádateľov v severovýchodnej Sýrii, počas nemecko-sýrsko-slovenského archeologického projektu Tell Fecheriye (2006 - 2011). Prostredníctvom archeologického bádania sa dostanete do pradávnych čias doby bronzovej (v 2. tisícročí pred n. l.) v severozápadnej Mezopotámii, kde dominovala ríša Mitanni, na ktorú nadviazala mocná a bojovná Asýrska ríša. Chce dokázať, že práve v Tell Fecheriye sa nachádzala jedna z mála neobjavených veľkých metropol starovekých štátov Vaššukanni - hlavné mesto ríše Mitanni. Táto slávna dŕžava, bola v 16. - 14./13 storočí pred Kristom spolu s Egyptom a Chetitskou ríšou dominantnou mocnosťou starovekého Blízkeho východu a Stredomoria. Okrem toho sa dozviete o objavovaní pozostatkov prvých poľnohospodárov (8. - 7. tisícročie pred Kristom). Na lokalite taktiež žili starovekí biblickí Aramejci, tiež z Biblie známi veľmocenskí Asýrčania, Peržania, Parti, Rimania, Byzantínci, stredovekí Arabi a iní. Išlo o prvé, a zároveň rozsiahle, oficiálne pôsobenie slovenských bádateľov na archeologickom projekte v Mezopotámii.
