Padáky nad Tibetem
Studená válka měla v 60. letech svá velká jeviště v podobě berlínské krize, kubánské krize, sestřelu amerického špionážního letounu U2 Francise Garyho Powerse nad Sovětským svazem, občanské války v Kongu až po válku ve Vietnamu a sovětskou okupaci Československa. Zájmu novinářů i veřejnosti v té době však unikalo mnoho dalších konfliktů. V té době k nim patřil opět bohužel i Tibet, který jen na chvíli zaujal světovou veřejnost a tisk v březnu 1959 v době útěku dalajlamy do exilu a krvavého zásahu čínských komunistů proti Tibeťanům v Lhase.
V roce 1982 však prohlásil, nikoliv od věci, proslulý ruský spisovatel a letitý oponent sovětského režimu Alexander Solženicyn na adresu čínské politiky vůči Tibeťanům, že „chování čínských komunistů v Tibetu je brutálnější a nelidštější, než postup jakéhokoli jiného komunistického režimu kdekoli na světě.“
Američané a Indové svou pomoc tibetské gerile v 60. letech samozřejmě tajili a stejnou taktiku zvolila víceméně i komunistická Čína, která pro svět předstírala, jak je v Tibetu klid a mír a jak tibetský lid „rozkvétá“ díky moudré národnostní politice Komunistické strany Číny a genialitě předsedy a „velkého kormidelníka“ Mao Ce-tunga.
Přesto by dramatická historie ztráty tibetské svobody měla stále stát i za naši pozornost. Proto byl převyprávěn pro českého čtenáře i tento příběh násilí, lží, odvahy, netečnosti, přátelství a zrady, protože hrdinské činy tibetských partyzánů, odbojářů, parašutistů i amerických letců a zpravodajců si nezaslouží, aby byly zapomenuty…
