Po knize Hradla, volty, jednočipy přichází autor s volným pokračováním, v němž se od základů číslicové techniky přesuneme ke konstrukci složitějších obvodů - totiž vlastních počítačů. Na příkladu tří podrobně popsaných konstrukcí se čtenář naučí základní principy fungování osmibitových počítačů a vyzkouší si i jejich praktický návrh a zapojování. Konstrukce používají legendární osmibitové procesory Intel 8085, MOS 65C02 a Motorola 6809. Kniha popisuje nejen jejich zapojení, ale věnuje se i jejich programování ve strojovém kódu (assembleru).
