Zásadní vliv, který se odráží ve všech kapitolách týkajících se evoluce člověka, mají závratně se rozvíjející obory paleogenetika a paleoproteomika. Díky těmto oborům byly získány nové poznatky o evoluci druhu Homo sapiens, který v archaické podobě vznikl již před 1,5 milionem let. Paleogenetika má pak zásadní význam pro vysvětlení vzniku a evoluce moderních lidských forem, anatomicky moderního člověka, neandertálců a asijských denisovanů. Paleogenetické poznatky významně přispěly i k pochopení změn a migrací v evropském mladém paleolitu a neolitu. Monografii završuje kapitola „Kolonizace světa“, která shrnuje poznatky o evoluci člověka a jeho rozšíření do jednotlivých regionů Země. Z tohoto hlediska je monografie prioritní, a to nejen v české literatuře, ale i v evropském měřítku. Kniha je určena pedagogům, studentům a širší zainteresované veřejnosti.
