Už od detstva sa z rozprávok dozvedáme o prefíkanej a obratnej líške s huňatým chvostom... Ivan Kňaze, autor obrazových kníh o zvieratách v našej prírode, nám líšku priblížil tak, ako ju spoznával on z poľovníckych posedov, ako ju stretal v listnatých aj ihličnatých lesoch, na poliach a lúkach, horských svahoch aj v roklinách. Brlohy líšok zväčša sám nevyhľadával, pomáhala mu viac náhoda pri pozorovaní iných druhov zveri. Vždy ho najprv zaujímalo správanie lišiaka, líšky aj líšťat a až potom fotografovanie. Pochopil, že líšku treba nechať, nech si robí svoju činnosť, a keď sa zahĺbi do svojej „práce“, fotografovanie nebude vnímať. Tak sa aj stalo a vznikali fotografie líšky hrdzavej (Vulpes vulpes), ktoré dokumentujú jej výzor i správanie, lovecké aktivity, hĺbenie brlohov, vzťahové prejavy, rozmnožovanie, hry mláďat... Táto všeobecne známa šelma patrí medzi psovité mäsožravce (Carnivora). Telo má prispôsobené na rýchly pohyb a pružné skoky, pretože loví živú korisť do veľkosti menšieho zajaca. Práve z tejto knihy so zaujímavými obrázkami skúseného fotografia a obdivovateľa prírody sa dozvedáme aj o jej nevšedných loveckých schopnostiach. Presným spôsobom najradšej loví šikovné hraboše, ale aj iné hlodavce a menšie živočíchy. Korisť zvyčajne chytá do ostrých pazúrov a škrtí ju zubami. Ľudia ju poznajú podľa hrdzavého kožucha, dlhého huňatého chvosta a najmä ako najbystrejšieho lovca.
Ako žije daniel škvrnitý
