Problematika ochrany před iniciací požáru elektrickými rozvody a dalším elektrickým zařízením je řešena od doby prvotní elektrizace objektů. Pouze s narůstajícími nároky na přenášené výkony a hustotu elektrických rozvodů v objektech se dostává stále více do popředí. Tato příručka, jediná na toto téma v České republice, reaguje na rozšiřující se výstavbu nejen dřevostaveb, zejména dřevěných srubů a chat, ale i na používání dřeva a podobných materiálů dotvářejících jak interiér, tak exteriér staveb z klasických materiálů (betonu, cihel, železné konstrukce apod.). Současně s ochranou objektů před iniciací požáru elektrickým zařízením jsou důležité i požadavky na elektroinstalaci, která musí zůstat funkční i v době požáru. Téma dřevěných krovů je žádaným tématem pro stavební praxi. Na konstrukci dřevěných krovů jsou dnes kladeny nové požadavky v souvislosti s využitím podkrovních prostorů jak u novostaveb, tak u stávajících budov. Z nedostatečné znalosti při navrhování krovů dochází v praxi k chybám, které mohou poškodit samotnou dřevěnou konstrukci. Publikace Nové krovy může pomoci tento nepříznivý stav napravit, neboť vede projektanty ke správnému pochopení statického a prostorového působení krovu. Struktura publikace o třinácti kapitolách byla volena přehledně, aby čtenář načerpal nejprve základní odborné informace, na které se bude dále navazovat. V první kapitole jsou uvedeny české normy pro návrh krovů. Kapitoly 2 až 10 seznamují se zatížením sněhem a větrem, s konstrukčním řešením nejběžnějších typů krovů a statickým posouzením všech jednotlivých prvků krovu. Autoři se dále v popise i výpočtech zaměřují podrobně na krov vaznicový a novodobý hambalkový. O bohatých zkušenostech autorů publikace svědčí uvedení velkého množství názorných obrázků, statických výpočtů i řešení konkrétních příkladů z praxe. Právě při úpravě starých dřevěných krovů může neodborný zásah do konstrukce krovu způsobit problémy. V knize jsou taková kritická místa popsána a zároveň autoři definují nejvhodnější řešení bez nepříznivého ovlivnění statické funkce krovu. Jedenáctá kapitola je věnována zateplení střechy nad půdní vestavbou. Dvanáctá kapitola pojednává o konstrukční a chemické ochraně dřeva krovu a o ochraně dřeva proti požáru. Autoři zpracovaným obsahem navazují na úspěšnou publikaci Tesařské konstrukce, vydanou nakladatelstvím IC ČKAIT v roce 2014. Publikace bude pomůckou pro všechny, kdo se podílejí na výstavbě a opravách dřevěných konstrukcí, tedy pro projektanty, realizační firmy, vlastníky nemovitostí i studenty technických oborů středních a vysokých škol.

Nemají city, touhy ani sexuální potřeby. Nemají lidské slabosti a jsou samozřejmě výkonnější. Nás lidí bude zkrátka zapotřebí stále méně. To nás staví před nová dilemata a výzvy: Jak se vypořádáme s tím, že spousta pracovních míst časem jednoduše zanikne? Vytvoří to ve společnosti nové a nepřekonatelné nerovnosti? Nebo vzniknou pra¬cov¬ní místa úplně nová? Anebo je spíše řešením, jak navrhuje Martin Ford, zavede¬ní ne¬podmí¬něného základ¬ního příjmu – důstojné částky vyplácené bez rozdílu všem občanům? Vzhledem k tomu, že Česká republika patří k zemím, které jsou v příštích letech také ohrožené automatizací, je toto téma mimořádně aktuální.
