Popelka nazaretská, která nezapře ducha českého baroka, je nejznámějším dílem Václava Renče. Skladba vznikla v komunistickém kriminále zapsaná do paměti... v nejnaprostější samotě samotě... už ve vyšetřovacích vazbách . Básník ji po svém návratu z vězení (1951 - 1962) nijak neupravoval. V dopise literárnímu kritikovi Jaroslavu Medovi, v době prvního vydání knihy, o tom Renč napsal: Vychází tak, jak mi v těch samotách byla darována, zcela doslovně darována, proto jsem se neodvážil změnit, když šla do tisku, ani slůvko, třeba by se zdálo (a mě prvnímu), že tu i onde by byla namístě menší korektura.
