Es ist auf drei Bände angelegt und folgt den Niveaustufenbeschreibungen des Europarates. Damit werden die Lernziele des Lehrwerks und der Bezug zu den angebotenen Prüfungen transparent. Der erste Band erreicht das Niveau A1, die erste Stufe der elementaren Sprachverwendung", der 2. Band die Stufe A2. Der 3. Band bereitet auf das "Zertifikat Deutsch" vor und erreicht das Niveau B1. geni@l baut auf dem bewährten Konzept von "sowieso" auf, bietet aber Schülern und Lehrern eine Reihe von wichtigen Neuerungen: - Die abwechslungsreichen Einheiten sind kurz, umfassen jeweils 6 Seiten mit zahlreichen motivierenden Sprechanlässen. - Der klar strukturierte Lernweg gibt eine gleichmäßige Progression vor und macht den Unterricht auch mit heterogenen Lernergruppen leicht. - Die Plateaukapitel erlauben Wiederholung und Vertiefung oder, bei sehr motivierten Lernergruppen, ein schnelleres Fortschreiten. Mit diesen Lehrwerkteilen sind Ansätze zur Binnendifferenzierung angelegt. - Lerntipps und -strategien finden sich dort, wo sie hilfreich sind. Mit dem Erstellen von Lernplakaten werden neue Wege beschritten, selbstständiges Lernen zu fördern. - Die Themen sind jugendlich und zeitgemäß, umfassen u.a. auch die neuen Kommunikationstechnologien (E-Mail, Internet etc.). - Am Ende der Arbeitsbuchlektionen stehen Tests zur Selbstevaluation. - Ausspracheübungen (Intonation, Wort- und Satzakzent) sind durchgehend in die Einheiten integriert. - In Band 1 bieten die Plateaukapitel (optionale) Übungen zu dem 30-minütigen Begleitvideo an. - Eine Überblicksgrammatik im Anhang erleichtert die Systematisierung der eingeführten Grammatik. - Das Video bzw. die DVD zu geni@l A1 soll den Lernenden ermöglichen, die fremde Sprache im Kontext von Bewegung, Gestik und Mimik verbal und nonverbal verstehen zu können. - Der "Videotrainer" bietet viele Übungen, die mit einem Video gelöst werden können. So werden Hör- und Sehverstehen geübt, der Wortschatz wiederholt und vertieft und zahlreiche abwechslungsreiche Aktivitäten zur Binnendifferenzierung angeboten. Vor allem in Verbindung mit der benutzerfreundlichen DVD ist der "Videotrainer" eine ideale Ergänzung zu geni@l und zu jedem anderen Grundstufenlehrwerk."
