Built on Bones

Published in collaboration with the MAK Vienna and LE STANZE DEL VETRO on the occasion of the exhibition in Venice, this volume presents over 300 works from the collection of the MAK Austrian Museum of Applied Arts/Contemporary Art in Vienna and private collections. It focuses, for the first time, on the history of glassmaking in Austria from 1900 to 1937, a period spanning the last decades of the Austro-Hungarian Empire and the First Republic.
In the early twentieth century, a group of young architects, designers, and fine arts and architecture students developed a special interest in the process of glassmaking. They paved the way to the first pioneering developments in twentieth-century glass production as they gained a thorough understanding of the material. The collaboration between architects and designers created the style of Viennese glass, found in new projects such as the Wiener Werkstätte or the Austrian Werkbund.

Kolektivní odborná monografie poprvé přináší komplexní pohled na fenomén kolektivních domů, domů hotelového typu a příbuzných architektonických útvarů, jaké se vyvinuly a byly realizovány v českých zemích v průběhu 20. století. Kolektivní dům (koldům) pod jednou střechou spojuje obytnou funkci se širokou nabídkou služeb a zespolečenštěnými provozy pro stravování, péči o děti či trávení volného času, určenými zejména pro obyvatele daného domu. V moderních českých dějinách tento typ krystalizuje kolem roku 1910 v úvahách liberálních sociologů kolem Tomáše G. Masaryka, následně se zásluhou teoretika architektury Karla Teigeho ocitá v centru zájmu levicové meziválečné avantgardy, a konečně kulminuje ve čtyřicátých a šedesátých i sedmdesátých letech, kdy vznikají kolektivní domy v Litvínově a Zlíně a řada domů hotelového typu. Jak české teoretické debaty, tak i architektonické realizace se vyznačují vysokou kvalitou, která je plně srovnatelná se zahraničními příklady. Publikace poprvé v české a v takto obsáhlém pohledu i zahraniční uměnovědné literatuře přináší soubor textů, v nichž systematicky představuje nejdůležitější realizace a návrhy „koldomů“. Automat na výstavu
První monografie pavilonu ČSSR na Expo 67 vychází k příležitosti stejnojmenné výstavy v Chebu. Martin Bernátek, Vladimíra Büngerová, Daniela Kramerová, Henrieta Moravčíková, Terezie Nekvindová, Martin Strakoš a Marta Sylvestrová se v ní zaměřili na kritické zhodnocení československé účasti z hlediska problematiky výstavnictví, architektury, audiovizuálních exponátů nebo otázky česko-slovenských vztahů.
Světová výstava v Montrealu v roce 1967 byla druhou z trojice poválečných prezentací Československa na světových výstavách a navázala na iniciační moment Expo 58 v Bruselu. Expo 67, specifickým formátem mezi uměním, architekturou a uměleckým řemeslem, předznamenává dnešní podobu výstavního provozu svou internacionalizací, spektakularitou, masovostí a silným ukotvením v politickém, ekonomickém a společenském pozadí. Název Automat na výstavu evokuje výraznou atrakci československého pavilonu interaktivní biograf Kinoautomat, i dobovou víru v automatizaci jako symbol moderního světa. Především ale slouží jako metafora pro situaci, v níž naše montrealská účast vznikala: Expo 67 se ve své době stalo v Československu jakýmsi měřítkem pro kvalitní provedení výstavnických expozic, bylo však i známkou rutinérského přístupu vedoucího k rozmělnění.

Slavné stavby Damase Deworezkého a Jana Sedláčka v jižních Čechách
Tato publikace mladé historičky umění Josefíny Frýbové představuje tvorbu dvou knížecích architektů a je připomínkou 200 let od narození třeboňského rodáka Damase Deworezkého (* 1816) a 100 let od úmrtí rodáka z moravských Napajedel, architekta a spisovatele Jana Sedláčka († 1916). Má podtitul Průvodce stavbami knížecích architektů a chtěla by prostřednictvím jejich staveb provést čtenáře po jižních Čechách a demonstrovat jedinečnost „schwarzenberského stavebního slohu“. V knížecí architektonické kanceláři, jejímiž významnými představiteli byli oba tito architekti a stavitelé, vznikalo mnoho projektů, od hospodářských staveb, sýpek, stodol, hájoven, ale i pivovarů, lihovarů nebo škol, po farní kostely či panská sídla. Provede na téměř 70 stránkách této útlé publikace zámeckými stavbami, zejména zámkem na Hluboké, mnohými kostely, schwarzenberskou hrobkou v Domaníně u Třeboně i hospodářskými stavbami, jimž vévodí Dvůr Vondrov u Hluboké nad Vltavou. Čtenář zde najde mnohé nové a zajímavé informace a obrazový doprovod. A také dost možná nové typy na architoulky po jedinečných jižních Čechách.

Hradní kaple
Závěrečný třetí svazek Hradních kaplí pojednává především o době vlády Jiřího z Poděbrad a Vladislava Jagellonského, byť panovník tehdy definitivně ztratil své postavení výsadního stavebníka.
Jedinou velkou realizací se tak stala kaple na Křivoklátě, kterou inicioval Vladislav Jagellonský. Jedná se o stavbu mimořádně důležitou, protože je dochována prakticky v intaktním stavu včetně inventáře. Šlechta naproti tomu postavila velmi početnou skupinu náročných kaplí, kterým vévodí Smečno, Rabí, Švihov, Bor u Tachova a Pardubice. Patnácté století oproti době předhusitské přináší odlišný obraz i co do podoby kaplí. Závěrečná část knihy obsahuje kapitolu věnovanou typologií hradních kaplí, exkurz do 17.–19. století a slovník odborných pojmů.
