Štěpán Pácl, jeden z nejpozoruhodnějších českých režisérů mladší generace, se s čtenáři dělí o zkušenosti z vlastní práce. Svým způsobem je tedy tato kniha ojedinělá, neboť nás nechává nahlédnout „do zákulisí“ divadelní praxe. V jednotlivých kapitolách, věnovaných vybraným inscenacím v různých českých divadlech od Ostravy až po pražské Národní divadlo, zkoumá z různých úhlů pohledu „problémy“, před kterými stál společně s dalšími spoluinscenátory – dramaturgy, scénografy a především herci a herečkami. Zajímavě popisuje také vlastní divácké zážitky z inscenací zahraničních divadel, která dlouhou dobu pravidelně sleduje. Tato kniha se věnuje šesti inscenacím, na jejichž vzniku se autor podílel jako režisér. Jde o reflexi čtyř inscenací her českých autorů: Konce masopustu Josefa Topola, Krvavých křtin J. K. Marta Taberyová, sochařka a keramička, patří k předním osobnostem této výtvarné kategorie v poválečné české generaci. Narozena v Olomouci, je dnes svou existencí a tvorbou plně zakotvena v Praze. Po studiu na středních průmyslových školách v Železném Brodě a v Praze, získala solidní výtvarné vzdělání na vysoké škole uměleckoprůmyslové v Praze v ateliéru profesora Otto Eckerta (1949–1954). Ve vlastní ateliérové tvorbě, uznávané doma i v zahraničí, realizovala svůj dosavadní profesionální život.

Alex Steinweiss invented the album cover as we know it. In 1940, as Columbia Records' young new art director, he pitched an idea: Why not replace the standard plain brown wrapper with an eye-catching illustration? The company took a chance, and within months its record sales increased by over 800 per cent. Over the next three decades, Steinweiss made thousands of original artworks for classical, jazz, and popular record covers for Columbia, Decca, London, and Everest; as well as logos, labels, advertising material, even his own typeface, the Steinweiss Scrawl.
