Nikdy není pouze funkční a užitková, přesahuje společenskou nutnost, která člověku přikazuje se oblékat. Její povrchnost a triviálnost jsou šalebné – vždy odráží posedlosti i ideály doby, ve které vznikala. Módní artefakty jsou příkladnými objekty touhy. Byly jimi už v době svého vzniku, proto se nám také zachovaly, proto nás fascinují dodnes. Můžeme je obdivovat, ale též analyzovat, ukotvovat v kontextu, zbavovat původního kouzla, nebo trikem naopak umocňovat. Není divu, že se módní artefakty staly muzejními objekty. Můžeme je obdivovat jako stopy zaniklé kultury, ale je možné v nich nacházet něco, co historičnost přesahuje, co k nám hovoří z jiné doby. Móda je tématem nás všech, i když si to třeba nechceme přiznat.
