Mindezeket pedig a kiállítás összekapcsolja a jelenkorral is, hiszen a bemutatott személyes tárgyak és történetek mozaikként alkotják történelmunket és identitásunkat. Az ékszereken keresztul megismerjuk a Kárpát-medence történelmét: az istállóskői barlangtól a hun, az avar és a középkori leleteken vagy III. Béla és Könyves Kálmán királyon át az 1848-49-es forradalom és szabadságharc után elterjedt gyászékszerekig. Végul a kortárs hazai ékszertervezés legfrissebb eredményeit felvonultatva eljutunk a fiatal magyar kreatíviparig. Célunk elsősorban az volt, hogy az ékszereket új dimenziókban mutassuk meg: ne pusztán alapanyaguk vagy a megmunkálásukhoz használt technikai megoldások, esetleg az általuk képviselt egyéni, netán a társadalom által elvárt stílusuk mellett láttassuk őket. A kurátorok által kialakított rendezőelv az ékszerek mögött rejlő komplex uzenetek mentén kínál kapcsolódási pontokat, így téve lehetővé a 21. század embere számára a szemet gyönyörködtető műtárgyakhoz és az egykori viselőikhez való kapcsolódást. Ezt segíti a kiállítás hat fő témája: a kincs, a rítus, a misztikum, a változás, a kapcsolat és az önkifejezés. A tárlat több ponton is kilép a kiállítótérből: számos fontos egyuttműködésnek köszönhetően a fiatal magyar kreatívipari ékszertervezés legfrissebb darabjai (a Moholy-Nagy Művészeti Egyetem hallgatóinak, illetve oktatóinak alkotásai) és Spengler Katalin nemzetközi hírű gyűjteményének legszebb tárgyai (így például Margit Jäschke, Fábián Veronika, Daniel Kruger, Georg Dobler, Lőrincz Réka, Melanie Bilenker vagy David Bielander kortárs alkotásai) is helyet kaptak a múzeum közösségi tereiben. A kiállítás címadó alkotása, Benczúr Emese munkája már a múzeum főbejáratánál fogadja a látogatókat. Az inspiráció egyik meghatározó forrása pedig a Veszprém vármegyei Somló-hegyen 2024 nyarán felbukkant mintegy háromezer éves nyakék volt, amelyet a közönség a Széchényi-teremben tekinthetett meg, és amely önmagában is nemzetközi szenzációnak számít. A Magyar Nemzeti Múzeum mindezeken túl is kínált további újdonságokat: a kiállítás alkotói közösségi gyűjtést szerveztek, amelynek köszönhetően a múzeum munkatársainak legkedvesebb ékszerei, majd a nagyközönség által a kiállításra felajánlott darabok és a hozzájuk kapcsolódó történetek is helyet kaptak a tárlaton.
