Ming Smith: An Aperture Monograph
Ming Smith's poetic and experimental images are icons of twentieth-century African American life. Jan Šmíd - Photography
Jan Šmíd je fotograf, krajinář. Je jedním ze tří Čechů, kteří jsou nositeli nejcennějšího a nejprestižnějšího fotografického titulu Master QEP (Master Qualified European Photographer udělovaný Federation of European Photographers v Bruselu). Zatím za své fotografie získal více než 200 medailí a ocenění, které pro sebe, ale zejména pro českou fotografii vybojoval na mezinárodních fotografických soutěžích. Když se řekne "fotografie", každý si představí "cvak" a hotovo. Jan Šmíd pracuje metodou skládané fotografie, kdy jeden motiv vzniká z desítek až stovek jednotlivých snímků. Díky tomu jsou jeho fotografie technicky dokonalé. Ve své tvorbě se specializuje na krajinářská panorama a snímky noční oblohy (http://www.smidphotography.com/). Nyní nazrál čas, aby vydal svou knižní prvotinu. Knihu vydává nakladatelství Green Mango ve stejně luxusní podobě, jako jsou jeho fotografie.
Anton Šmotlák
Piata publikácia Aurela Hrabušického a Filipa Vanča z edície Osobnosti slovenskej fotografie predstavujte Antona Šmotláka (1920 - 1979). Ako profesionál sa špecializoval na divadelnú fotografiu, ale od samého začiatku sa venoval aj živej fotografii. Patril k prvým slovenským fotografom, ktorí sa v rámci živej či priamej fotografie postarali o uvoľnenie z dogiem socialistického realizmu. Spontánne a bez predsudkov zaznamenával okamihy z bežného života v Bratislave, ale aj inde na Slovensku. Do fotografie vniesol hybný moment, akceleráciu diania, razanciu v záberoch, akýsi fotografický „drajv". V druhej polovici 50. a začiatkom 60. rokov obsiahol taký široký register tém a spracoval ich s takým porozumením ako máloktorý iný slovenský fotograf. Možno sa mu to podarilo aj preto, lebo bol „dobrotivým paparazzom" - ako ho nazval Július Satinský, keď komentoval jeho predčasnú smrť.

Hollywood legend John Malkovich may seem like an unlikely choice for an artist's muse, but American photographer Sandro Miller declares him "a photographer's dream." Miller (born 1958) has been finding inspiration in the Academy Award-nominated actor since the two first met in 1999. In their latest collaboration, Miller pays homage to the great photographers of past and present, with Malkovich as his sole model, in their recreations of 41 iconic portraits. The project is a testament to both Miller's skill as a photographer and Malkovich's chameleon-esque acting ability. With months of research in addition to accurate costumes and makeup application, Miller's recreations are delightfully exact in their lighting and editing, while Malkovich seems to easily inhabit the original subjects no matter who he is meant to portray. He appears as the titular migrant mother in Dorothea Lange's Depression-era portrait, as a bewigged Andy Warhol cast in crimson and as both sisters in Diane Arbus' infamous Identical Twins, Roselle, New Jersey, matching with himself in a wide-collared dress and lace stockings. Flower Art: Makoto Azuma
The art of Makoto Azuma uses flowers and plants as its starting point, but juxtaposes their timeless yet transient beauty with an incredibly diverse range of striking settings. In a series of sculptures, installations and interactive events, he delights in blurring the boundaries between nature and artifice. Azuma founded the floral atelier Jardins des Fleurs in 2002, taking commissions from private clients as well as brands and corporations, both in Japan and all over the world.

Hudebníci 70. - 80. léta / Musicians 1970s-1980
Do dějin české fotografie se Miloň Novotný zapsal ve svých osmatřiceti letech vynikající knihou Londýn, která vyšla v období pražského jara. Po sovětské okupaci se ocitl na indexu nežádoucích autorů a nemohl publikovat. Jednou z možností, jak se uživit, byla spolupráce se Svazem českých skladatelů a koncertních umělců. Miloň Novotný však nebyl rutinní fotograf, a tak se nám díky jeho talentu a přísné umělecké selekci dochovala unikátní sbírka skvělých portrétů tehdy začínajících i slavných hudebníků. U příležitosti nedožitých devadesátin autora připravilo nakladatelství KANT ve spolupráci s fotografkou Danou Kyndrovou publikaci s více než sto šedesáti fotografiemi, které tak budou představeny veřejnosti vůbec poprvé. Součástí publikace jsou i stručné medailonky jednotlivých umělců v češtině i angličtině.
