Katalóg k retrospektívnej výstave s názvom Noteboom, ktorá sa konala na pôde Galérie umenia Ernesta Zmetáka v Nových Zámkoch v čase od 20. 5. do 19. 6. 2010. Milota Havránková je poprednou predstaviteľkou súčasnej slovenskej fotografie. Publikácia je prierezom jej tvorby z rokov 1965–2009. Od nástupu na umeleckú scénu je jej tvorba výnimočná v odlišnosti výtvarného jazyka od aktuálnych trendov. Rezignuje na priamu fotografiu a jej doménou je inscenovaná a manipulovaná fotografia. Hľadá nové možnosti fotografie, nové výrazové prostriedky, presahy do iných médií, technológie spracovania i transformovanie fotografie do netradičných materiálov.

Publikácia Martin Štrba. Pevná zem pod hlavou je prvou samostatnou monografiou predstavujúcou odbornej, ale aj širokej verejnosti, fotografickú tvorbu uznávaného slovenského kameramana. Martin Štrba je v porovnaní s väčšinou autorov slovenskej novej vlny akousi pokojnou silou. Nechce šokovať, chce rozprávať. Nesnaží sa obsiahnuť svet, len to, čo považuje za dôležité. Lásku, dôveru, blízkosť, priateľstvo. Keď sa v jeho fotografiách zjavujú muž, žena, sú väčšinou rovnako symbolmi ako konkrétnymi osobami. Štrba nerozpráva o Mužovi a o Žene, ale o Sebe a o Nej. Sám priznáva inšpiráciu surrealizmom, čo sa zrkadlí najmä v absurdnej línii jeho tvorby. V jeho prácach však silno badať aj vplyv filmu. Martin Štrba vychádza z uchopiteľnej reality, stavia obrazy jednoduchými prostriedkami tak, aby niesli v sebe hlboké významy.

Karl Blossfeldt (1865–1932) was a great pioneer of botanical photography, yet he was neither a professional photographer nor a botanist. A professor at the Academy of Applied Arts in Berlin, he was a sculptor and amateur photographer, and his interest in the plant world was originally educational. Fascinated by the structure of plants, whose apparently artistic forms were created by biological expediency, he realized that photography could be a useful teaching tool, allowing his students to see and compare many natural forms. Blossfeldt worked with a homemade camera and gathered and photographed his own plant samples, magnifying them by up to 45 times. From around 1898 onwards, he shot some 6,000 images, which he used primarily as visual aids in his classes. Eventually published as Art Forms in Nature (1928) and Art Forms in Nature, Second Series (1932), his photographs had a lasting impact on the art of his day and were enthusiastically embraced by both the Surrealists and the New Objectivity movement. His books brought him overnight fame and are still considered landmarks in the history of art and photography. This volume brings together a remarkable collection of Blossfeldt’s strikingly austere yet poetic portraits of plants, capturing their timeless beauty in intimate detail.

Fotograf Dušan Slivka (1944) patrí medzi popredné osobnosti krajinárskej fotografie na Slovensku. Vyštudoval odbor filmová kamera na Filmovej fakulte Akademie muzických umění v Prahe (1968). V rokoch 19701974 pracoval ako kameraman v Slovenskej televízii. Od roku 1974 až do súčasnosti pracuje ako fotograf v slobodnom povolaní. Dlhodobo sa venuje žánru vedeckej ilustrácie v oblasti botaniky, geológie, architektúry a umenia. Vo svojej voľnej tvorbe pracuje od roku 1963 na kolekcii farebných fotografií minimalistických krajín. Výtvarný jazyk Slivkovych fotografií je lakonický. Krajinu abstrahuje na jednoduché monochromatické plochy a prostriedky vyjadrenia redukuje na minimum. Potláča prirodzenú perspektívu, ktorú zvyčajne nahrádza jedna plocha nad horizontom a jedna pod nim. Slivka tak zhmotňuje svoju vlastnú predstavu o krajine, ktorá akoby nemala reálny základ a je skôr formou ako obsahom. V Slivkovej krajine sme prišli o domov, o stabilný bod uprostred sveta. Jeho prakrajina nie je miestom odpočinku a bezpečia. Je slepou uličkou našej existencie, bezvýchodiskovou situáciou, ktorá nás aktivizuje, núti hľadať zmysel a zapĺňať jej prázdny priestor vlastným obsahom.

Hirošige je považován za jednoho z největších mistrů japonského dřevořezu. Známé jsou především jeho krajiny, často doplněné o bezstarostné scény z každodenního života. Ukiyo-e („obrázky pomíjivého světa") s podmanivými rafinovanými kompozicemi a jemně laděnou barevností zachycují život v Japonsku v 19. století a diváky okouzlují dodnes. Jednoduchá estetika dřevořezu s její osobitou kompozicí se stala inspirací i pro evropské umělce, zejména francouzské impresionisty a post-impresionisty. Hirošigeho dílo je fascinovalo a ukázalo jim cestu, jak se vymanit z tradice naturalistického zobrazování světa.

Zámerom knižnej monografie, ktorá vyšla k rovnomennej výstave Rudolf Sikora | Sám s fotografiou | Alone with Phtography (v slov. a angl. jazyku) je čo najkomplexnejšie zmapovať a predstaviť fotomediálnu tvorbu Rudolfa Sikoru, poukázať na jeho novátorskú úlohu v rozširovaní hraníc fotografie. Narábal s „nájdenou“ i zámernou, autorskou fotografiou a s fotomontážou ešte v preddigitálnej ére, fotografiu využíval vo veľkej miere pre vznik svojich konceptuálnych prác a dodnes môžeme v jeho tvorbe identifikovať viacero technológií, pričom niektoré z nich sú autorské. Hoci časť jeho fotomediálnej tvorby bola výstavne prezentovaná v rámci väčších retrospektívnych (Národní galerie v Praze, 2006; Slovenská národná galéria v Bratislave, 2008) či monotematických výstav (Galéria umenia E. Zmetáka v Nových Zámkoch, 2011; Turčianska galéria v Martine, 2014), jej knižné spracovanie prichádza pri príležitosti bratislavskej výstavy v Galérii UMELKA. Ambíciou knižného projektu je predstaviť Sikorovu fotomediálnu tvorbu v čo najúplnejšej miere od je začiatkov až po dnešok, zhodnotiť jeho miesto a hlavné prínosy do dejín konceptuálne orientovanej fotografie a fotomediálnej tvorby. Rudolf Sikora patrí medzi prvých umelcov, ktorý sa sústavne zaoberal novou témou globálne-civilizačného a ekologického ohrozenia sveta. Svoj spôsob metaforického konceptuálneho myslenia postavil na využití diagramov, textov, interpunkčných znamienok, na práci s fotografiou či fotomontážou. Temné a varovné tóny čoskoro vystriedali optimistickejšie kozmologické výskumy, ktoré Sikora okrem iného podoprel aj vedeckými poznatkami z teórie vzniku a existencie vesmíru a k vede vytvoril originálnu umeleckú paralelu so silnou myšlienkovou výpoveďou. Neodmysliteľnou stránkou jeho osobnosti je dodnes spoločenský aktivizmus, ktorý našiel prirodzené uplatnenie aj v jeho výtvarných konceptoch plných etickej apelatívnosti. Systematicky sa zaoberá odkazom ruských revolučných avantgárd reprezentovaných hlavne dielom K. Maleviča. Reflektuje duchovný odkaz jeho novátorského činu, ale cez neho aj všeobecnejšiu problematiku sociálnych utópií a ich dôsledkov na život ľudí a spoločenských systémov v 20. a 21. storočí. Štúdie v katalógu pojednávajú o autorovej fotografickej tvorbe z rôznych aspektov, súčasťou knihy sú reprinty starších textov (E. Sikorová, V. Macek), ako aj nové syntetické i monotematické pohľady od domácich (K. Bajcurová) a zahraničných kurátorov (A. a R. Fowkes, M. S. Witkovsky), prílohou knihy je rozsiahla štúdia o fotografickom diele R. Sikoru z rokov 1970 – 1998 od českej fotografky J. Havelkovej (skrátená a redigovaná verzia jej diplomovej práce z r. 1998, ktorá vznikla na Inštitúte tvorivej fotografie v Opave). Kniha obsahuje rozsiahlu fotografickú časť (vyše 300 vyobrazení), v ktorej sú prezentované aj viaceré doteraz nepublikované diela, ako aj podrobnú dokumentáciu a faktografiu autorovej tvorby.
