Leibovitz frames actress Elizabeth Taylor and her dog Sugar by their shocks of snow-white hair. She captures four Kilgore College Rangerettes, a drill team, at the apex of their kicks--white-booted legs pointing up, obscuring their faces and revealing the red underpants beneath their blue miniskirts. There are many more wonderful and unexpected images here, over 200 in all. Táto kniha farebných fotografií so slovenskými ako aj anglickými poetickými popismi by pokojne mohla niesť názov Nový Zéland objektívom Hiraxa. Ale bolo by to klamstvo. Táto krajina sa mi ukázala taká, aká sa mi ukázať chcela. Videl som presne to, čo som mal vidieť, a v tejto knihe sú presne tie fotky, ktoré som mal odfotiť. Nový Zéland je totiž nádherný kus zeme s tisíckami podôb. Každý turistický chodník, les, hora, atmosféra miest, mestečiek a dedín, boli iné. Vonkajšia prírodná scenéria sa menila v priebehu chvíľky, až by ste povedali, že sa až by ste povedali, že ste sa zrazu ocitli na inom kontinente. Nie, to sa len krajina oblakov, ako sa tomuto územiu niekedy hovorí, šikovne prezliekala do nového šatu.

Jeff Wall - The Complete Edition
Jeff Wall (b.1946) adopts the nineteenth-century poet Baudelaire's famous description of one of his contemporaries as 'a painter of modern life' to describe his own very different work: huge transparencies mounted on to light boxes that diffuse a brilliant glow of white light evenly through his photographs of contemporary urban scenes and 'constructed' social situations.
Wall is foremost among the pioneering artists who since the late 1960s have brought photography to the forefront of contemporary art. His constructed images employ the latest sophisticated technology in the creation of compelling tableaux, which are evocative of subjects ranging from Hollywood cinema to nineteenth-century history painting. When exhibited in their glowing light boxes they evoke both the seduction of the cinema screen and the physical presence of minimalist sculptures such as Dan Flavin's fluorescent light installations or Donald Judd's metal and Perspex wall reliefs. All of these elements - traditional figurative painting, cinema, Minimalism, Conceptual art, documentary photography - are consciously evoked and explored in Wall's work. Associated closely since the late 1960s with Conceptual artists such as Dan Graham, with whom he collaborated on The Children's Pavilion (1988-93), Wall has engaged at a sophisticated level with theories of representation and its social dimensions both as an artist and as a theoretical writer on contemporary art and culture.

Koncepcia a výber autorov v tejto publikácii je postavená na štyroch rôznych pohľadoch. Lacná kniha Skryté podoby / Hidden images (-70%)
Reprezentativní publikace, vydaná u příležitosti výstavy v pražském Rudolfinu, shrnuje výsledky projektu Jiřího Davida. Autor v průběhu několika let oslovil množství slavných politiků, umělců a sportovců s prosbou, aby mu dali k dispozici svou tvář pro fotografický portrét. Potom ze dvou levých, respektive pravých polovin mechanicky vytvořil dvě nové podobizny, dokonale souměrné a navzájem odlišné. Mezi portrétovanými se setkáváme s takovými celebritami jako jsou Václav Havel, Václav Klaus, Butrus Butrus-Gháli, Norman Mailer či Boris Becker. Na závěr je zařazeno několik osobností již nežijících, kde byla montáž vytvořena ze starších snímků. V úvodních textech projekt interpretují filosofové J. Derrida a V. Bělohradský a historici umění M. Dostál, H. Kontová a manželé Ševčíkovi. / b English /b A representative publication, published on the occasion of an exhibition in Rudolfinum, summarizing the results of Jiří David´s project. In the course of the couple of years the author have asked a number of famous politicians, artists and athletes to give over the images of their faces - to let him portray them. Subsequently, he matched mechanically two right, respectively left halves of the face two brand new images, perfectly symmetrical and unlike. Among the portrayed personalities we find e.g. Václav Havel, Václav Klaus, Butrus Butrus-Gháli, Norman Mailer, or Boris Becker. The book is closed by a few images that were, as the portreyed ones are not living anymore, created from already existing photographs. In the texts that introduce the book is the whole project explicated by philosophers J. Derrida and V. Bělohradský and art historians M. Dostál and H. Kontová. / b Deutsch Diese repräsentative Publikation, die anläßlich der Ausstellung in der Prager Galerie Rudolfinum erschien, faßt das Projekt von Jiří David zusammen. Der Autor wendete sich im Laufe einiger Jahren an viele bekannte Politiker, Künstler und Sportler mit der Absicht, ihre fotografische Porträts aufzunehmen. Dann duplizierte er immer die linke, bzw. rechte Hälfte des Gesichts spiegelartig, so daß zwei vollkommen symetrische Porträts entstanden, die sich unterscheiden.
