Rupert Kytka
Dosud málo známý a nezaslouženě zapomenutý výtvarný fotograf Rupert Kytka (1910-1993) patří do generace umělců spjatých s meziválečným amatérským hnutím. Nejvýznamnější práce ovšem vytvořil až v šedesátých letech jako zakládající člen olomoucké skupiny DOFO, prvního poválečného československého fotografického sdružení (vzniklo roku 1959), k jejímuž věhlasu přispěli později například Ivo Přeček a Vilém Reichmann. Z této doby vynikají zejména Kytkovy snímky v duchu poezie všedního dne (se styčnými plochami s tradicí surrealismu a imaginativního umění) a fotografie blížící se svým výrazem umění op-artu či informelu (mj. skleněné struktury). K jeho vrcholným snímkům patří zátiší v exteriéru i interiéru, často citlivě zobrazující odhozené a různě destruované předměty. Fotografickou dráhu pak Rupert Kytka zakončil výjimečným souborem Dobrá země (1969-1979), kdy zejména v detailech opět prokázal schopnost mistrovsky rytmizovat námět. Zhodnotil tak zároveň celoživotní zájem o fotografii horské krajiny. Reprezentativní výběr (téměř padesát kvalitních reprodukcí) z Kytkova neokázalého, ale dnes již klasického díla je uveden průkopnickou studií Lukáše Bártla a uzavřen soupisem výstav umělce.

Robert Doisneau - Palm Springs 1960
This is a fresh and unexpected collection of Robert Doisneaus color photography that captures the glamour and nostalgia of Palm Springs in the early 1960s. In 1961, celebrated French photographer Robert Doisneau was invited by "Fortune" magazine to cover Palm Springs, the hottest travel destination of the day. This renowned paradise catered to Hollywoods affluent and reached international acclaim as an indulgent playground for the rich and famous, as well as a silverhaired and well-heeled clientele. It was a world of swimming pools awash with bobbing beehives, martini-fueled parties, and relaxed golf sets, all unfolding against the desert backdrop of this California oasis. While there, Doisneau took hundreds of photographs, twenty-three of which were published in the magazine. The rest have been rediscovered in his archives and one hundred are featured in this unprecedented volume. Doisneau is most recognized for his black and white portraits of Parisian street scenes.
