Nomad Two Worlds
In the last decade it has evolved from James' individual attempt to understand the clash of ancient and modern cultures he witnessed growing up in Australia to what it is today - a powerful expression of partnership and reconciliation in action through art, music and film that has become a global example of true collaboration across deep cultural divides. From its humble beginnings as a photographic and film exhibition in New York in 1999, "Nomad Two Worlds" endured the years leading up to the global event known in the political narrative simply as The Apology, the 2008 public apology made to Indigenous Australians by the then Australian Prime Minister, Kevin Rudd. Developing "Nomad Two Worlds" has involved a decade of groundwork, including travel to remote regions of northern Western Australia with senior Indigenous custodians who have provided access to sites of great cultural significance to the Aboriginal people of that region. Burial grounds, gorges, stunning coastlines and desert locations, often restricted and secret, were allowed to be photographed and filmed by James in the spirit of meaningful reconciliation. The result, an unprecedented artistic collaboration of hand embellished art photographs, form the heart of a "Nomad Two Worlds" installation. The ABC Documentary released in 2011 "Becoming Jangala" is a detailed look back at the creation of "Nomad Two Worlds" and the special bond between Bieundurry and James and can be viewed on this site.

Monografická kniha Remains představuje českého fotografa Ivana Pinkavu (1961) v celé šíři jeho fotografického díla s důrazem na poslední, současnou etapu tvorby. Vedle řady celostránkových reprodukcí a úvodního eseje Petra Vaňouse obsahuje publikace také přehled celé dosavadní fotografovy tvorby v přehledném, chronologicky řazeném soupisu. Ivan Pinkava si během takřka třiceti let vytvořil vlastní, svébytný vizuální jazyk, který lze ztotožnit s jeho uvažováním o světě. Jeho dílo je především nelítostnou referencí o stavu lidského ducha u jedince tzv. západní kultury. Vytváří sled tezí o identitě a pochybách člověka, jenž prochází dějinnými zkušenostmi - krizemi, vzestupy a pády, aby se vždy vracel k všeobecně platným pravidlům lidské existence, jejichž přesné pojmenování se vymyká našim možnostem. Vymykají-li se tato pravidla pojmenování slovem, pak je naopak vizuální evokace, fotografie - obraz, mnohdy silnější a pádnější. Tibet has suffered extreme political turmoil and upheaval over the last 50 odd years. Occupied in 1950, Red Guards destroyed thousands of official buildings and holy places during the Cultural Revolution, and religious freedom and traditional education are still severely under threat.
Due to the strength of Tibetan faith in Buddha, in the Dalai Lama, and against the odds, many buildings have been reconstructed, their devotion and belief remain extraordinarily strong. In early 1964, Harry Benson was getting on a plane for a foreign assignment in Africa, when he got a call from his photo editor of London newspaper `The Daily Express`. He was now going with the Beatles to Paris to document French Beatlemania and what followed was the biggest (ticket to) ride of his life. Benson was warmly welcomed into the Beatles' inner sanctum, resulting in some of the most intimate photographs ever taken of the band, then on the cusp of world domination. In Paris, he took the iconic photograph of the Fab Four having a pillow fight at the George V hotel; he shot their groundbreaking first visit to the United States, the full impact of New York hysteria, their famous appearance on the `Ed Sullivan` show, the band in Florida, including their surprising encounter with Cassius Clay; as well as on the set of `A Hard Day's Night`. The relationship continued in 1966, including George's honeymoon in Barbados and their notorious US tour, under the shadow cast by Lennon's comment that the Beatles were `bigger than Jesus Christ.` Benson's luminous black and white photographs show at close quarters the Beatles composing, performing, encountering their fans, relaxing, and engaging with each other, while trying to cope with their increasingly isolating fame. As well as hundreds of photographs, many previously unseen, there is an introductory essay by Benson as well as quotes and newspaper clippings from the period.
