Kniha prezentuje fotografie z projektu z let 1990-1991, kdy se autorka několik měsíců věnovala zachycení přelomové etapy novodobých českých a slovenských dějin – ukončení tzv. dočasného pobytu sovětských vojsk na území Československa. Po 25 letech se autorka vypravila na místa zdokumentovaná na jejich fotografiích z 90. let a soubor obohatila o záběry, které i dnes připomínají sovětskou misi na našem území.

Dejiny slovenskej fotografie sú plné nezbadaných, polozabudnutých či celkom zabudnutých osobností. Máloktorá však bola donedávna taká neznáma ako Ján Galanda. Tak ako väčšina novodobých slovenských fotografov ani Ján Galanda nebol profesionál, v občianskom živote pracoval ako bankový úradník. Fotografovaniu sa začal venovať až v prvej polovici tridsiatych rokov 20. storočia a podobne ako iní fotoamatéri dokumentoval predovšetkým svoje mimopracovné záujmy a aktivity, cestovanie, turistiku, šport. Na rozdiel od väčšiny snímok tohto druhu sa Galandove fotografie vyznačujú precízne vybudovanou náročnou, niekedy až rafinovanou kompozíciou. Počas svojich početných ciest do zahraničia vytvoril súbor fotografií zachytávajúcich spôsob života, ktorý bol na chudobnom Slovensku skôr výnimočný.
