Andy Warhol
Well before Andy Warhol’s rise to the pinnacle of Pop Art, he created and exhibited seductive drawings celebrating male beauty. Andy Warhol Love, Sex, & Desire: Drawings 1950–1962 features over three hundred drawings rendered primarily in ink on paper portraying young men, many of them nude, some sexually charged, and occasionally adorned with whimsical black hearts and delightful embellishments. They lounge or preen, proud of or even bored by their beauty, while the artist sketches them, rapt. They rarely engage with their keen observer, and likewise Warhol’s focus is on their form, their erotic qualities, and unbridled sexuality. If his subjects are content to revel in their attractiveness, so too is Warhol. His confident hand illustrates a multitude of colorful characters, yet also reveals much about this enigmatic artist.Warhol was already a booming commercial illustrator when he exhibited studies from this body of work at the Bodley Gallery on New York’s Upper East Side in 1956. He mistakenly saw these illustrations as his way of breaking into the New York art scene, underestimating the pervading homophobia of the time. While he never saw through his plan to publish the drawings as a monograph, he did produce more than a thousand elegant, seemingly effortless drawings from life. This volume brings his project to fruition by gathering his most striking images, published in a comprehensive book and chosen by the Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts. Ašot Haas je jedným z mála slovenských vizuálnych umelcov, ktorí konzistentne tvoria objekty a inštalácie kombináciou skla, optického plexiskla, zrkadiel či rôznych kreatívnych materiálov. Výrazným elementom Haasovej tvorby je práca so svetlom a geometrickými princípmi, pričom prirodzene nadväzuje na tradíciu op-artu, minimalizmu a geometrickej abstrakcie.
Publikácia slúži ako katalóg k výstave v Galérii Nedbalka.

The Art and Science of Ernst Haeckel
Ernst Haeckel (1834-1919) was a German-born biologist, naturalist, evolutionist, artist, philosopher, and doctor who spent his life researching flora and fauna from the highest mountaintops to the deepest ocean. A vociferous supporter and developer of Darwin's theories of evolution, he denounced religious dogma, authored philosophical treatises, gained a doctorate in zoology, and coined scientific terms which have passed into common usage, including ecology, phylum, and stem cell.
At the heart of Haeckel's colossal legacy was the motivation not only to discover but also to explain. To do this, he created hundreds of detailed drawings, watercolors, and sketches of his findings which he published in successive volumes, including several marine organism collections and the majestic Kunstformen der Natur (Art Forms in Nature), which could serve as the cornerstone of Haeckel's entire life project. Like a meticulous visual encyclopedia of living things, Haeckel's work was as remarkable for its graphic precision and meticulous shading as for its understanding of organic evolution. From bats to the box jellyfish, lizards to lichen, and spider legs to sea anemones, Haeckel emphasized the essential symmetries and order of nature, and found biological beauty in even the most unlikely of creatures.
In this book, we celebrate the scientific, artistic, and environmental importance of Haeckel's work, with a collection of 450 of his finest prints from several of his most important tomes, including Die Radiolarien, Monographie der Medusen, Die Kalkschwämme, and Kunstformen der Natur. Vznik prvního soukromého rádia je od samého začátku shluk náhod, na jehož konci stojí fenomenální úspěch. Každá vzpomínka na devadesátky se musí zaznamenat, dokud si ještě něco pamatujeme. Proto jsme se do toho pustili. Není to deník ani dějepisná knížka. Jsem pyšný, že jsem mohl být součástí porevolučního kvasu, stejně jako dění u zrodu legendy. Nechceme být striktně přesní, abychom nebyli nudní, spíš popsat tu dobu z našeho pohledu. Každý z nás si pamatuje něco jiného, nějak jinak, a dohromady to dává docela zajímavý plastický obrázek. Jaké byly během tohoto mimořádného období vztahy mezi jednotlivými umělci, kteří jsou dnes považováni za surrealisty? Jaký vliv měly na nově vznikající myšlenky Duchampovo konceptuální umění a de Chiricova metafyzická tvorba? Proč se měl Picasso před Bretonem na pozoru? Proč byl Ďagilev navzdory průkopnickému dopadu své práce vždy na společenském okraji umělecké scény? Proč Breton nenáviděl Cocteaua? Dandy – aristokrat ducha a vkusu
Dandy – slovo a fenomén, ktorý takmer každý pozná, no málokto ho vie exaktne zadefinovať. Spoločným menovateľom dandyov je koncept života postavený na revolte proti všednosti, na elegancii a estétstve, ktoré spisovatelia v priebehu 19. storočia rozšírili aj do duchovnej roviny. Kniha prináša do slovenského prostredia reflexiu príbehu dandyzmu na príkladoch unikátnych literárnych tvorcov a postáv umenia – dandyov, ktorých zlatou érou bolo obdobie od počiatkov romantizmu po obdobie fin-de-si?cle. Autor sa zameriava na významných predstaviteľov a spisovateľov dandyzmu v jeho umeleckom variante v európskom a stredoeurópskom kontexte (Stendhal, Byron, Balzac, d’Aurevilly, Baudelaire, Wilde, Breisky, Altenberg a ďalší) a hľadá prejavy dandyzmu u slovenských umelcov z radov spisovateľov (Hviezdoslav, Jesenský, Mitrovský, Gašpar, Bohúň, Gregor a ďalší).
Mezi kýčem a akademií
Chromolitografie byla v době své slávy v druhé polovině 19. století exkluzivní a náročnou technikou vícebarevného soutisku, využívajícího principu sčítání barev a optického efektu tiskového bodu. Její role se však v průběhu vývoje proměňovala od reprodukční techniky s ambicemi takřka imitovat malířská díla, přes využití jako svébytného média na poli reklamy až po ryze služebnou funkci v exaktní vědecké ilustraci nebo v podobě často esteticky pokleslých užitkových merkantilních tisků, které chromolitografii přinesly pejorativně vnímané označení barvotisk. Právě tento aspekt v umělecko-historických disciplínách na dlouhou dobu neprávem deklasoval výjimečná díla, zejména reklamní plakáty, ale i diplomy, či kalendáře, která touto náročnou technikou vznikla.
