Illustration Next
This outstanding global survey brings together the dazzling talent of 50 leading illustrators from over 20 countries, among them Julia Rothman, Whitney Sherman and Mike Perry, and also provides them with the opportunity to indulge in a brilliant, creative experiment. The book is curated into two interleaved strands: in the first, each illustrator showcases their own work and is interviewed by the author to shine a light onto what inspires and motivates them. The second strand is a collaborative project with illustrators working in pairs to create original work to one of 25 briefs from the author based on themes ranging from beauty to beast and speed to excess. Each of the outstanding collaborations is accompanied by a joint interview with the two illustrators. As a result, half the work featured has never been seen before and has been created exclusively for this book.
Logo Design Toolbox
With this toolbox of practical logo templates a la Neubau Welt, Alexander Tibelius provides designers with useful groundwork for implementing their own ideas. All designers are familiar with this problem: one element is still missing and a deadline is fast approaching. They can imagine the suitable component, but since it isn't at hand, it first has to be created in a time-consuming process. What could help simplify and shorten typical design processes? Which tools would one always like to have available? With his 900+ templates for contemporary graphic and logo design, Alexander Tibelius provides designers with the right basic materials for further processing and tuning. Thanks to The Logo Design Toolbox, no one has to reinvent the wheel --or almost anything else for that matter. The book provides a variety of designs for items from wheels, sashes, laurel wreaths, and crowns to anchors, beards, and pirate skulls, along with multiple renditions of letters, triangles, stars, ornaments, and speech bubbles. Everything pictured in Tibelius's book is, of course, also available as a scalable and customizable vector file. Comparable to popular Gestalten publications such as Neubau Welt or Carsten nicolai's Grid Index, this clearly structured toolbox provides designers with some of the most used, recurring elements, symbols, and motifs in logo and layout design in all of their conceivable permutations. These can be used by amateurs and professionals alike as a time-saving basis for creating their own cards, flyers, posters, websites, presentations, logos, or t-shirts. In short, the multifaceted compendium The Logo Design Toolbox will serve any graphic designer as a practical helper for producing specific, goal-oriented results.

Map of the World
Maps help us understand the world. This book features the most original and sought-after map illustrators whose work is in line with the zeitgeist.Drawing a map means understanding our world a bit better. For centuries, we have used the tools of cartography to represent both our immediate surroundings and the world at large--and to convey them to others. On the one hand, maps are used to illustrate areal relationships, including distances, dimensions, and topographies. On the other, maps can also serve as projection screens for a variety of display formats, such as illustration, data visualization, and visual storytelling. In our age of satellite navigation systems and Google Maps, personal interpretations of the world around us are becoming more relevant. Publications, the tourism industry, and other commercial parties are using these contemporary, personal maps to showcase specific regions, to characterize local scenes, to generate moods, and to tell stories beyond sheer navigation. A new generation of designers, illustrators, and mapmakers are currently discovering their passion for various forms of illustrative cartography. A Map of the World is a compelling collection of their work--from accurate and surprisingly detailed representations to personal, naive, and modernistic interpretations. The featured projects from around the world range from maps and atlases inspired by classic forms to cartographic experiments and editorial illustrations.

Robert Bielik
Výberom tém hraničí až so surrealizmom a čiernym humorom.

Basics Graphic Design 02 Design Research
A graphic design project can be viewed as a series of choices; the more informed these choices are, the stronger the resolution will be. It is essential for all design projects to be approached with carefully researched, in-depth knowledge and this knowledge-gathering process should both inform and go hand in hand with any other design work; one should constantly inform and aid the development of the other. By carefully looking at the various research methods available to the student, "Basics Graphic Design 02: Design Solutions" encourages the reader to interact and work with the demographic they are designing for. Beyond the basic research methods such as data gathering through interactions with your subject in terms of observing and questioning, the book looks at how this information can be analysed, synthesised and developed. The reader will also learn how best to test and prove decisions and design work, resulting in well-rounded solutions that are informed, purposeful, innovative and aesthetically fitting for the brief.
