Za prvé je Whitefieldův život poutavým příběhem, který téměř nemá obdoby. Od svých 24 let, kdy vedl největší shromáždění, jaká kdy Amerika viděla, až do své smrti o 30 let později, naslouchal jeho hlasu celý anglicky mluvící svět. Vládne všeobecná shoda, že byl největším kazatelem 18. století a J. C. Ryle o jeho výjimečném kazatelském obdarování napsal: „Věřím, že žádný Angličan, ať už živý či mrtvý, se mu nikdy nevyrovná.“

Skryté prameny velkého evangelikálního probuzení nespočívaly v lidech ani v době, kdy se odehrálo, ale z Boží milosti v novém vylití Ducha svatého do srdcí a myslí lidí. Proto i my v dnešním světě máme naději, že se zvěst evangelia o odpuštění hříchů a novém životu v Kristu Ježíši bude šířit, dokud trvá doba milosti.
