All's Well That Ends Well

All's Well That Ends Well is a play by William Shakespeare, originally classified as a comedy, though now often counted as one of his problem plays, so-called because they cannot be easily classified as tragedy or comedy. It was probably written in later middle part of Shakespeare's career, between 1601 and 1608, and was first published in the First Folio in 1623.The name of the play comes from the proverb All's well that ends well, which means that problems do not matter so long as the outcome is good.

Antony and Cleopatra

Antony and Cleopatra is a tragedy by William Shakespeare. It was first printed in the First Folio of 1623.The plot is based on Thomas North's translation of Plutarch's Life of Markus Antonius and follows the relationship between Cleopatra and Mark Antony from the time of the Parthian War to Cleopatra's suicide. The major antagonist is Octavius Caesar, one of Antony's fellow triumvirs and the future first emperor of Rome. The tragedy is a Roman play characterized by swift, panoramic shifts in geographical locations and in registers, alternating between sensual, imaginative Alexandria and the more pragmatic, austere Rome. Many consider the role of Cleopatra in this play one of the most complex female roles in Shakespeare's work. She is frequently vain and histrionic, provoking an audience almost to scorn; at the same time, Shakespeare's efforts invest both her and Antony with tragic grandeur. These contradictory features have led to famously divided critical responses.

Troilus and Cressida

Troilus and Cressida is a tragedy by William Shakespeare, believed to have been written in 1602. The play (also described as one of Shakespeare's problem plays) is not a conventional tragedy, since its protagonist (Troilus) does not die. The play ends instead on a very bleak note with the death of the noble Trojan Hector and destruction of the love between Troilus and Cressida. Throughout the play, the tone lurches wildly between bawdy comedy and tragic gloom, and readers and theatre-goers have frequently found it difficult to understand how one is meant to respond to the characters.

A windsori vig asszonyok

A túlnyomórészt prózai, itt-ott verses komédia ? inkább bohózat, mint vígjáték ? csupa jókedv, csupa móka, csupa bujkáló poézis. Hangja a Szentivánéji álom táncos könnyedségére, tündéri játékosságra emlékeztet. Foalakja: Falstaff a IV. Henrikben. Hetykesége most halkabb, hiszen alaposan megcsúfolják a windsori polgárasszonyok. A darab Shakespeare egyetlen olyan muve, melyben a vezeto szerepeket javarészt a polgárok játsszák. Iróniája a nemesurak ostobaságát és kapzsiságát teszi nevetségessé.
