Titkos naplóját édesanyja találta meg, aki könyvvé formálta, és kiadta. Az olykor érezhető anyai beavatkozástól a napló még drámaibb, még megrázóbb lett, főként, mert tudjuk: a megjelenés után Éva édesanyja mély depresszióba esett, majd öngyilkos lett. A napló azóta megjelent angolul és héberül is, de magyarul, 1948 óta egyszer sem. Éva, aki körül napról napra esett szét megszokott világa, az utolsó pillanatig próbálta élni a kamaszlányok szokásos életét: szerelem, barátságok, család... Eva Stories alapjáúl szolgáló napló A család elhurcolásáról Zsolt Béla Kilenc koffer című könyvében írt, melyet „Az emberi becstelenség krónikája”-ként tart számon a The Observer.
