Kdybychom měli jednoho z nejlepších našich herců současnosti Ivana Trojana nějak charakterizovat, nejvíc by mu slušelo přízvisko „skromná hvězda“. Ale zároveň veliká, zřejmě momentálně první v Česku, tak silně a jasně vyzařuje své umění.
Z pohledu na výčet jeho filmových, televizních, divadelních a rozhlasových rolí až přechází zrak a našince mimoděk napadá, jak to všechno tenhle nepříliš vysoký a štíhlý herec s mimořádným charismatem vůbec mohl stihnout? Všichni o něm hovoří jako o nesmírně pracovitém, disciplinovaném herci, týmovém hráči, skvělém parťákovi a kolegovi i velice slušném, dobrém člověku. A pokud jde o jeho talent, někdo o něm kdysi prohlásil, že by zahrál i kliku u dveří... Ivan Trojan je v současnosti nositelem celkem osmi Českých lvů (!), toho posledního dostal za životopisnou roli kontroverzního léčitele Jana Mikoláška ve filmu polské režisérky Agnieszky Holland Šarlatán (2020). Hrál v něm se svým synem Josefem, který představoval Mikoláška v mladých letech.
Ze čtyř synů se už dva dali na herectví, takže herecký rod Trojanů pokračuje už ve třetí generaci. Bohužel jeho zakladatel, Ivanův otec Ladislav Trojan, rodinu opustil před Vánoci 2022, ale dožil se krásného věku 90 let.
Na své domovské scéně – Dejvickém divadle -, kde působí od roku 1997, se Ivan Trojan pustil i do režie, naposledy v roce 2021 ve hře Daniela Majlinga Vina?. Jak ale přiznal, jako režisér má před svými kolegy ostych. Kromě dvou Cen Alfréfa Radoka, tu druhou dostal za roli Boha v proslulé kontroverzní komedii Ucpanej systém v roce 2012, získal v roce 2022 poprvé Cenu divadelní kritiky za roli Davida ve hře Zdeňka Zelenky Fifty.
Jak sám říká, jeho život se dělí na herecký a sportovní, což dokládá i skutečnost, že kromě fotbalu a Bohemky také trénuje basketbal, kvůli kterému vystudoval sportovní gymnázium, ale hrát ho kvůli chybějícím šesti centimetrům závodně nemohl. Původně toužil hrál profesionálně. „A přiznávám, kdybych byl o deset centimetrů vyšší, hercem bych se nikdy nestal.“
A také se věnuje charitě – už 16 let je patronem Klubu nemocných cystickou fibrózou.
