Clementis – Minister na popravisku
Vladimír Clementis sa narodil v roku 1902 v Tisovci. Bol slovenský politik, právnik, spisovateľ a prekladateľ. Vyrastal v učiteľskej evanjelickej rodine. Študoval na Právnickej fakulte Karlovej univerzity v Prahe. V roku 1924 vstúpil do Komunistickej strany a spolu s ďalšími ľavicovými intelektuálmi začali vydávať časopis DAV. V roku 1939 emigroval do Francúzska, kde v prítomnosti Viliama Širokého kritizoval uzavretie paktu Molotov-Ribbentropp a odsúdil napadnutie Fínska Sovietskym zväzom. Neskôr ho jeho priateľ, ruský spisovateľ Ilja Erenburg varoval, že Stalin si takéto veci pamätá a neodpúšťa, ale už bolo neskoro. Široký sa postaral o to, aby sa na ne nezabudlo. Ako štátny tajomník ministerstva zahraničia ČSR sa po vojne zaslúžil o to, že Jarovce, Rusovce a Čunovo pripadli Slovensku. Mal tiež veľkú zásluhu na tom, že Československo v roku 1948 dodávalo novovzniknutému štátu Izrael zbrane. Bez nich by sa pravdepodobne neubránil arabskej presile. Clementis patril k bohémom a k ľavicovej intelektuálnej elite. Mal veľký podiel na zavedení komunistického režimu ktorého sa nakoniec sám stal obeťou. V roku 1952 bol v procese s Protištátnym sprisahaneckým centrom pod vedením Rudolfa Slánského odsúdený na smrť a popravený. Kniha je románovým príbehom tejto výraznej osobnosti našich novodobých dejín.
