Mengele - Úplný životní příběh - český jazyk
V místnosti vedle pitevního sálu čekalo a hořce naříkalo čtrnáct cikánských dětí. Doktor Mengele k nám nepromluvil ani slova a připravil deseti a pětimililitrové stříkačky. Z jedné krabice vytáhl Evipal, z další chloroform v dvacetimililitrových ampulích, a položil je na stůl. Poté přivedli první dvojče, čtrnáctiletou dívku. Mengele mi přikázal svléknout ji a uložit na stůl. Pak jí do žíly pravé ruky vstříkl Evipal. Jakmile dívka usnula, nahmatal její levou srdeční komoru a vstříkl 10 ml chloroformu. Po jednom malém škubnutí byla dívka mrtvá. Pak ji Mengele nechal přenést do místnosti pro mrtvoly. Stejným způsobem byla usmrcena v průběhu noci všechna dvojčata.
Josef Mengele byl přeživším symbolem Hitlerova konečného řešení, ztělesněním jeho hrůz chladný, odosobněný a vždy dokonale připravený na vleklé smrtící obřady, ďábelské selekce, kterých se mladý doktor SS pravidelně účastnil během jednadvaceti měsíců strávených v koncentračním táboře Osvětim.
Vzpomínka na muže útlejší postavy s upravenými vlasy v tmavě zeleném, precizně nažehleném plášti, s důkladně oholenou tváří a čepicí se znakem smrti SS posazenou švihácky do strany zůstává vrytá do paměti těch, kteří přežili jeho zkoumavý pohled hned po příchodu na stanici v Osvětimi. Mírně rozkročen v nablýskaných botách, palec položený na opasku s pistolí, zkoumal svou kořist chladnýma pronikavýma očima. Smrt vlevo, život vpravo. Předpokládá se, že čtyři sta tisíc lidských duší miminek, malých dětí, mladých dívek, matek, otců a prarodičů lehkovážně odmávala směrem vlevo hůlka, kterou držela ruka v rukavici.
Mengele byl hlavním zásobovačem plynových komor a krematorií. Občas jeho smrtící maska z tváře zmizela, Mengele ožil. Oči mu zářily vzrušením a jeho gesta zněžněla. Bylo to v okamžicích, kdy genetik Josef Mengele spatřil dvojčata.
