veřejnosti. Text má popularizačni charakter a proto obsahuje jen naprosté minimum jednoduchých matematických formuli. Je určen všem zájemcům o částicovou fyziku. Užitek z něj tak mohou mit napřiklad studenti nejvyššich ročniků střednich škol, studenti přirodovědných a technických oborů vysokých škol, středoškolšti učitelé matematiky a fyziky, badatelé v jiných oborech usilujici o širši rozhled po současné fyzice, ale jistě i mnozi dalši zájemci o hlubši poznáni struktury hmoty na současné úrovni.
Autor knihy Jiří Hořejší absolvoval Matematicko-fyzikálni fakultu Univerzity Karlovy v roce 1974. Od roku 1998 je na této fakultě profesorem teoretické částicové fyziky a v letech 19992009 zde byl ředitelem Ústavu částicové a jaderné fyziky. Dlouhodobě přednáší kvantovou teorii pole a teorii elektroslabých interakcí a během své vědecké profesní dráhy se zabýval řadou různých témat z oblasti teoretické jaderné fyziky, kvantové teorie a teorie elementárních částic. Kromě několika desítek článků v mezinárodních vědeckých časopisech publikoval také dvě odborné knihy o standardním modelu slabých interakcí.
Je voda víc než H2O?
Věda posledních dvou staletí zredukovala mytické představy o vodě na jednoduchý chemický vzorec čisté vody, popř. v ní rozpuštěné různé látky. Vygenerovala obrovské množství dílčích poznatků a převážně zavrhla ty staré, které až vlivem posledních výzkumů začíná brát opatrně na milost. A přece nám neposkytla o moc hlubší představu o vodě, než měli naši dávní předkové.
