A Life of Solid Principles
A translation of the 1843 novella by Edgar Bauer, a significant if overlooked work of German literary history that casts new light on the Young Hegelian movement and, possibly, Karl Marx. In early 1843, the Young Hegelian philosopher and activist Edgar Bauer published a comic novella titled Es leben feste Grundsätze! or A Life of Solid Principles! It told the story of an idealistic young journalist named, significantly enough, Karl. While the work was more or less ignored for one and a half centuries, recent scholarship has suggested that it may contain a fictionalized and deeply critical portrait of Karl Marx. That on its own makes it fascinating and valuable. But it is also an important piece of literary history in its own right. And it offers a powerful way into the life and career of its author—a figure who, despite an enormous amount of interest in the intellectual history of the German Vormärz in recent years, has remained conspicuously overlooked in the literature. This volume combines an original translation of Es leben feste Grundsätze! with a long essay outlining Edgar Bauer’s revolutionary political thought. Along the way, it shows how the Young Hegelian movement constituted a crucial inflection point in the history of the relationship between radical political theory, on one side, and concrete political institutions, on the other.

Maurice Blanchot
Investigates permutations of the terror to examine the complex political and intellectual transformation of literary theorist and novelist Maurice Blanchot between 1933 and 1949. Between 1933 and 1949 Maurice Blanchot's writings underwent a rather infamous political and critical transformation. Its overarching trope is the terror, which features prominently in his work in 1936, 1941, and 1947. The terror is a reflexive discourse about whether language is bound to reality, and so forceful, or merely a series of empty signs. Marty Hiatt provides an in-depth study of Blanchot's political and critical writings from this period, elaborating his various reckonings with the terror so as to demonstrate the categorical nature of his intellectual shift. Blanchot first calls for an insurrection that would violently expurgate the foreign and execute a Jewish prime minister in order to save France. After the Fall of France, he develops an account of how terror and rhetoric dialectically constitute literature as world construction and world destruction. In his first postwar encounter with Hegel, he links this conception back to history by arguing that it corresponds to revolution. He also doubles the dialectical account of revolutionary history through an account of poetic language that makes contact with an unknowable substrate of existence, resulting in a kind of absolute ambiguity, and seeks to explore and inhabit a form of negativity beyond revolution.
A Scourge of Humanity
As the First World War came to a chaotic end, Europeans feared that a wave of crime and anarchy would sweep across their continent. The upheavals of the war and of the subsequent violent breakup of the Habsburg, German, and Ottoman empires magnified longstanding fears that an increasingly interconnected world offered the enterprising and unscrupulous new opportunities to break the law and evade capture. New kinds of international criminals and criminal enterprises demanded novel forms of international cooperation. Thus was born the International Criminal Police Commission, known today as Interpol. In the 1920s and 1930s, Interpol''s police officials and the lawyers who collaborated with them created lasting programs to combat counterfeiting, sex and drug trafficking, terrorism, and human smuggling, and other forms of international crime, which they labelled "a scourge of humanity." Drawing on press reports, police files, and criminal records in numerous languages and across multiple countries, David Petruccelli explores the origins of Interpol and the role Central and Eastern European actors played in developing criminal policing and law during the interwar period to bring stability to their region and reshape international institutions and norms. He shows how legal experts replaced a liberal focus on individual rights with an emphasis on a collective of international societies and of police officers who looked to the international sphere as a space for eluding the constraints of the rule of law at home. In doing so, their initiatives posed an alternative to the imperial and liberal internationalist programs pursued by many Western Europeans and Americans and laid the groundwork for more radical forms of persecution during the Second World War. While bringing to life the stories of individuals involved in shady activities across borders, A Scourge of Humanity explores the vigorous policing and harsh criminal laws established by Interpol to combat their crimes and highlights illiberal forms of internationalism that have left a lasting mark on our world.

V publikácii Novelizovaný Správny súdny poriadok s aktualizovanými dôvodovými správami, ktorú sme vydali v roku 2025 (NZ 14/2025), sme do úplného znenia zákona zapracovali zmeny vykonané v čl. II zákona č. 289/2024 Z.z. a v čl. III zákona č. 140/2025 Z.z. O publikáciu bol veľký záujem, a tak sme temer celý náklad vypredali, no namiesto dotlače sme sa rozhodli vydať novú publikáciu (NZ10/2026), pretože poslanci NRSR medzitým prijali zásadnú novelu (17 novelizačných bodov) Správneho súdneho poriadku v čl. IV zákona č. 69/2026 Z.z. Zmeny vykonané zákonom č. 289/2024 Z.z. a zákonom č. 140/2024 Z.z. sme v úplnom znení zákona ponechali zvýraznené (za každým novelizovaným ustanovením sme v rámiku uviedli pôvodné znenie) a do zákona zapracoval aj poslednú novelu vykonanú v čl. IV zákona č. 69/2026 Z.z. (vrátane rámikov k novelizovaným ustanoveniam). V novej publikácii sme zverejnili aj dôvodové správy (aktualizované na základe prijatých pozmeňujúcich návrhov poslancov, resp. výborov NRSR) k všetkým trom novelám – v podstate ide o jediný výklad novelizovaných ustanovení, na ktorý prihliadajú súdy.

Kiáradt - A Tisza útja a győzelemig
2026. április 12-én Magyarország történelmet írt. Tizenhat év Orbán-rendszer után a Magyar Péter vezette Tisza Párt megnyerte az országgyűlési választásokat - és ezzel új esélyt adott az országnak, hogy visszatérjen a demokrácia útjára.
A győzelem a lehetetlen határát súrolta. Orbán Viktor és pártja a teljes állami apparátust, a titkosszolgálatokat, a másfél évtized alatt kiépített propagandagépezetet és gyakorlatilag korlátlan anyagi erőforrásait mozgósította. A Tiszának mindössze a változásra vágyók lelkesedéséből kellett építkeznie.
Ez a könyv a Tisza-kampány történetét meséli el. Azt, hogy hogyan nőtt ki a kegyelmi botrányból egy olyan politikai mozgalom, amely letarolta a teljes ellenzéki mezőnyt, és végül legyőzte magát Orbán Viktort is.
Magyar Péter története azonban nem csak a magyar politika története. A Kiáradt - A Tisza útja a győzelemig a 2024-2026-os időszak legfontosabb politikai eseményeinek története - még soha nem hallott részletekkel, fordulópontokkal, és az ezek mögött húzódó okok és hatások közérthető, de alapos politikai elemzésével.
"Ez vagy nagyot megy, vagy lufi lesz" - írta az egyik legelső kommentelő a Partizán induló élő közvetítése alá Youtube-on, miközben az interjúalanyon még a mikroportot igazítgatták. Aztán megjelent a képernyőn Magyar Péter: ingben és nyakkendőben, nyugodt hangon, magabiztosan ült Gulyás Márton műsorvezetővel szemben. Már a beköszönése valami mást ígért, mint amit eddig látott az ellenzék. Pontosan úgy nézett ki és azt a viselkedést hozta, amit a rendszer bukására vágyó közönség tudat alatt elvárt egy kiábrándult fideszestől. Érződött rajta, hogy jobboldali közegből jön, hogy nincs meg benne az a tipikus ellenzéki DNS, ami miatt a korábbi ellenzéki vezetők rendre idegenül hatottak a választók jelentős részére.

V publikácii Novelizovaný zákon o prokuratúre s aktualizovanou dôvodovou správou, ktorú sme vydali v roku 2024 (NZ 5/2024), sme do úplného znenia zákona zapracovali zmeny (20 novelizačných bodov) vykonané v čl. VII zákona č. 40/2024 Z.z., ktorým sa (v rámci faktickej rekodifikácie trestného práva) mení a dopĺňa Trestný zákon. O publikáciu bol vzhľadom na závažnosť zmien veľký záujem, a tak sme temer celý náklad vypredali, no namiesto dotlače sme sa rozhodli vydať novú publikáciu (NZ 11/2026), pretože poslanci NRSR medzitým schválili ďalšie dve novely (vykonané v čl. VII zákona č. 353/2024 Z.z. a v čl. VII zákona č. 69/2026 Z.z.). Zmeny vykonané zákonom č. 40/2024 Z.z. sme v úplnom znení zákona ponechali zvýraznené (za každým novelizovaným ustanovením sme v rámiku uviedli pôvodné znenie) a do zákona zapracoval obe novely (vrátane rámikov k novelizovaným ustanoveniam). V novej publikácii sme zverejnili aj dôvodové správy (aktualizované na základe prijatých pozmeňujúcich návrhov poslancov, resp. výborov NRSR) k všetkým trom novelám – v podstate ide o jediný výklad novelizovaných ustanovení, na ktorý prihliadajú súdy.

A Szovjetunió megtámadása után Hitler itt töltötte a legtöbb időt. Itt döntöttek az európai zsidók szisztematikus kiirtásáról. Itt történt 1944. július 20-án a Stauffenberg-merénylet, amelyet a diktátor könnyebb sérülésekkel túlélt. Noha maga a név sokak számára fogalom, mégis kevesen ismerik magát a létesítményt, és kevesen tudnak arról, mi is történt itt három és fél év alatt.

The only power otherwise powerless people possess lies in their numbers. Riots and Rebels is an examination of how they have exercised that power over the centuries and how governments have reacted to it. In 1381, a large army of people marched through the south-east of England to London, demanding an end to unfair taxation and threatening the rule of the boy-king, Richard II. During the eighteenth century, food riots, riots in protest at land enclosure, and riots targeting religious groups and foreigners regularly occurred. Charles W. A. Prior offers a new account of the sovereign claims of Native Americans, the Crown, and colonies in early America, arguing that Native American diplomacy shaped how sovereignty was negotiated and contested among all three, from Virginia's founding to the ratification of the U.S. Constitution. Previous scholars have focused on the contested relationship between the British imperial state and the colonies it established along the Atlantic Coast without addressing how sovereign Native nations shaped the colonial process through warfare, diplomacy, trade, peace-making, and treaty-making. Prior adopts a new interpretive framework for examining sovereignty in early America, arguing that the Native and colonial spaces of the Northeast were a treaty ground thickly layered with agreements and negotiated rules of interaction. Drawing on an extensive range of treaty records, writings on colonial and imperial affairs, letters, and official documents, Treaty Ground argues that sovereignty was negotiated within diplomacy and shaped the norms of war, the terms of peace and alliances, the rightful ownership of territory, and appropriate responses to treaty violations. This process in turn structured relations between the Crown and colonies and framed initial positions on how the power of congress related to that of the states. Treaty Ground offers historical depth to our understanding of how Native nations articulated Indigenous power within colonialism, cuts settler colonialism down to size, and expands contemporary understandings of the sovereign relationships between Native nations in the United States and Canada.

The normative history of modernity begins with the Renaissance and the invention of linear perspective, which places man, instead of God, at the center of the world. The vanishing point of linear perspective portrays the world from the perspective of the single right eye of a singular subject, and it is this perspective that inspired Descartes's optics and his isolated cogito as the prime example of modern subjectivity. This book returns to the invention of linear perspective to seek another interpretation, offering an alternative to the Cartesian subject. Using the work of Renaissance theologian and mystic Nicolas of Cusa, Arianne Conty traces an alternative genealogy of the modern subject, one that allows the world, and the painting, to return our gaze. In elucidating the critique of the Cartesian subject by twentieth-century philosophers Benjamin, Heidegger, Lacan, Sartre, Merleau-Ponty, and Marion, she asks how modernity could be reconceived if philosophers were to take into account the geometric vision of Nicolas of Cusa and how his alternative vision might enable us to escape narcissism and share our world with the absolute other.
