Česká architektura 50. let
V padesátých letech 20. století se architekti museli podřídit nekompromisním dogmatickým požadavkům, aby jejich stavby naplňovaly pokrokové kulturní dědictví, socialistické obsahem, národní formou, s důrazem na umělecké mistrovství, pravdivost, vysokou ideovost a stranickost. Architektura měla být výrazem revolučního přetváření světa, budovatelského elánu a optimismu socialistického člověka.
Nikoli architekti, nýbrž politicko-ideologičtí aktivisté byli těmi, kdož prosazovali historizující architektonický sloh, který se měl stát jedním z nejdůležitějších nástrojů politické propagandy stalinistického režimu v Sovětském svazu a rovněž ve všech zemích, jím mocensky i ideologicky ovládaných. Při své koncepční práci tak byli architekti podrobeni stálému ideologickému dozoru a nátlaku a jejich formální výkony se posuzovaly především z hledisek hodnoty ideového obsahu. Ta však byla definována příliš obecně, a proto v tvorbě architektů panovaly stálé pochybnosti o ideové správnosti jejich projektů – a „ideovost“ projektu byla zároveň interpretována jako výraz třídního postoje architekta a jeho politické angažovanosti. To vše pak vytvářelo všeprostupující atmosféru nejistoty a strachu, z níž nebylo úniku.
Práce historika a teoretika architektury, vysokoškolského pedagoga a překladatele Pavla Halíka (30. 6. 1935 – 21. 6. 2021) se zabývá poměrně krátkým obdobím první poloviny padesátých let, později eufemisticky nazývaným obdobím deformací a kultu osobnosti, a absurdní situací, v níž se tehdy ocitla většina architektů bývalé avantgardy (jíž se v padesátých letech dostalo nejtvrdšího odsouzení – a to i ze strany samotných představitelů avantgardy, tedy funkcionalismu a konstruktivismu), když se jim začal násilně vnucovat sovětský vzor a metoda socialistického realismu. Aby bylo možné této situaci porozumět a pochopit nepochopitelné jednání jejích protagonistů, zabývá se Halík zejména sférou, ve které se odehrávalo stalinistické drama především: sférou verbálních projevů a rituálních textů. Oproti nim vlastní architektonická produkce, označovaná jako architektura socialistického realismu, byla vcelku nevinná a nejsou na ní tolik zjevné stopy teroru, jenž tehdy ovládal a deformoval mysli lidí.

Room 606
An updated, rewritten and expanded edition of the cult classic exploring Jacobsen's midcentury design through the microcosm of a single hotel room
In the center of Copenhagen, on the sixth floor of the Royal Hotel, Room 606 preserves the definitive masterwork of the Danish architect and designer Arne Jacobsen, in microcosm. Room 606 is the only surviving interior of the SAS House; the combined luxury hotel and satellite air terminal that Jacobsen designed for the Scandinavian Airlines System (SAS) and completed in 1960.
The SAS House was the most complete commission of Jacobsen’s career, in which he exercised the full range of his talents as a designer of furniture, lamps, textiles, gardens, tableware and graphics. As the fragment that encapsulates the basic ideas of the whole building, Room 606 provides a lens for reconstructing Jacobsen’s vanished masterwork in words and images.
Richly illustrated with nearly 500 photographs and drawings, this book guides the reader on a virtual tour through the Royal Hotel and SAS Air Terminal as they stood in 1960. Along the way, the author reveals the connections between the SAS House and Jacobsen’s earlier buildings and objects. Kniha Architektonické struktury je vysokoškolským učebním textem, který shrnuje dlouholeté pedagogické a profesní zkušenosti doc. Ing. arch. Jaroslava Drápala, CSc. (* 1934) na Fakultě architektury Vysokého učení technického v Brně. Inspirován metodou německého inženýra a architekta Curta Siegla (1911–2004) z roku 1960, vyvinul vlastní způsob výuky principů nosných konstrukcí pomocí modelů z papíru, tkaniny či textilního vlákna. Jeho metoda se brzy stala známou nejen v Brně, ale na všech školách architektury u nás.
Budování Dystopie
Budování Dystopie je nepochybně nejvíce normativně laděná práce renomovaného britského historika architektury Jamese Stevense Curla. Předkládá komplexní dějiny architektury 20. století a přináší neidealizovaný pohled na vývoj západní architektury od roku 1918 až do současnosti. Přibližuje modernistickou revoluci a některé její devastující dopady na stavební kulturu posledních desetiletí, životní prostředí a tvář mnoha dnešních měst. Rozebírá rovněž neblahé účinky špatné architektury na psychiku lidí, kteří jsou nuceni v ní žít. Stavbou prvního Goetheana založil Rudolf Steiner nový stavební sloh, nový, převratný směr architektury. V Česku, podobně jako v ostatních evropských zemích, stoupají požadavky na kvalitu veřejných prostranství a uličních prostorů. Uplatňování zón setkávání (sdílených prostorů) může být v řadě případů optimální reakcí na požadavky aplikace principů trvale udržitelné mobility a podpory pěší dopravy. Zóna setkávání (sdílený prostor) je urbanisticko-dopravní koncept založený na využívání prostoru ulice či veřejného prostranství všemi módy funkčního využití a dopravy. Jejich zavádění má za cíl především návrat k původnímu vnímání ulice jako prostoru pro veřejný život obyvatel, nikoli jako prvku dopravní infrastruktury. Pomáhá vytvářet podmínky pro vyváženost společenské, ekonomické, pobytové i dopravní funkce uličního prostoru. Úspěšné příklady ze zahraničí dokazují, že realizací zón setkávání dochází ke snížení rychlosti a zklidnění motorové dopravy, zvýšení bezpečnosti všech uživatelů prostoru, zvýšení efektivity využití uličního prostoru, zvýšení úrovně socializace a komunitní aktivity, zvýšení atraktivity ulice jako veřejného prostranství, zlepšení životního prostředí, oživení parteru a k podpoře lokální ekonomiky. Přestože přínosy zón setkávání (sdílených prostorů) jsou v praxi ověřené mnoha úspěšnými zahraničními realizacemi, v českém prostředí dosud neexistují. Umožněním jejich systematické realizace ve vhodných lokalitách může dojít ke zvýšení bezpečnosti provozu, podpoře udržitelné městské mobility a zvýšení kvality života obyvatel měst a obcí. Tato publikace přináší komplexní pohled na problematiku zón setkávání (sdílených prostorů), jejich urbanistický i dopravně-inženýrský kontext. Obsahuje výsledky rozsáhlé rešerše právních norem, technických norem a příkladů dobré praxe ve vybraných evropských zemích, popis situace v Česku i shrnutí zásad navrhování a projektování zón setkávání (sdílených prostorů).
