Kostely v české krajině vnímáme jako samozřejmost: stojí v téměř každé obci, dominují náměstím i panoramatům měst. Pro věřící je kostel místem duchovního spočinutí. Kromě toho je však i kulturním pokladem, jedinečným souborem vrcholných tvůrčích výkonů své doby a místa.

Baumhorn Lipót
Baumhorn Lipót (1860–1932) a zsinagógaspecialisták legtermékenyebb képviselője volt Európában: 26 zsinagógát tervezett a Történelmi Magyarország területén, melyek közül 22 fel is épült. Pályája kezdetén lerótta tiszteletét elődei előtt keleties és historizáló alkotásaival, és a német alaprajzi- és kupolatípus adaptálásával megalkotta sajátos szerkezeti prototípusát. A századforduló csúcsműve Szeged neológ zsinagógája volt, melynek épu¨letornamentikája beszédes szimbolizmust rejt. Önálló, a magyaros szecessziót a modern funkcionalitással ötvöző stílusára ezt követően talált rá a ceglédi, az újvidéki és a Budapest Dózsa György úti zsinagógák tervezésekor. Az első világháború után a korszerű épu¨letszerkezetet többnyire klasszicizáló köntösbe bújtatta, melynek továbbra is szerves részét képezte az orientalizálás. A műfaj hattyúdala a gyöngyösi zsinagóga volt 1930 köru¨l, mely utoljára megidézte a közösségek századfordulós virágzását. Világi épületeivel együtt életműve közel 90 alkotásból áll; a főváros mellett Szegeden, Temesváron és Újvidéken székházak, lakó- és bérpaloták fémjelzik nevét.

Přibližuje svět architektury zhruba od druhé poloviny 19. století až do současnosti a vedle hvězdných autorů, jako jsou Jan Kotěra, Josef Gočár, Otakar Novotný, Dušan Jurkovič nebo Otto Wagner, Antoni Gaudí a Le Corbusier, defilují zde také Karl Ernstberger, Otto a Karl Kohnovi, Otto Reichner, František Kavalír, Ladislav Skřivánek či Thomas Short, tedy jména dnes už prakticky neznámá.
