Vyprávění o římských vilách z období renesance a raného baroka je pojato nejen jako zasvěcený průvodce architektonickými a výtvarnými skvosty 15. a 16. století, ale čtivou formou uvádí čtenáře do obecně kulturních a politických dějin, které předurčily moderní Evropu. We Build Drawings
`Architects do not actually build buildings,' says Mikkel Frost, co-founder of Danish architecture firm CEBRA. `What we build is an idea. To visualize it, we build drawings.' The evolutionary process of how aphorisms develop into precise architectural concepts is illustrated through a collection of Frost's sketches and watercolours.
Over 200 drawings are organized into 20 sections, each relating to one of CEBRA's projects. An index containing c olour photographs and renders of their works further illuminates how the drawings are translated into reality. Introducing the book, a written version of Frost's TEDx talk Let your fingers do the talking elaborates on the book's impetus: to bring a spotlight to the craft of drawing as a powerful tool for creation and communication.
The Whole World a Bauhaus
This publication, accompanying the worldwide exhibition series, takes the quotation of the former Bauhaus student and subsequent university teacher Fritz Kuhr as a starting point for reflections on the Bauhaus; not only as a school in Weimar, Dessau and Berlin, but also in order to focus on the parallel Modernist movements in non-European regions.
This volume explains in hitherto unknown depth the Bauhaus and its multi-faceted forms of expression, which extended far beyond the Constructivist language of the 1920s. Case studies from Buenos Aires, Mexico City, Santiago de Chile, Moscow, the USA and elsewhere show that the Bauhaus was not an exclusive undertaking of the modern age. Avant-gardes in many regions of the world examined the Bauhaus from their own point of view and integrated it into their discourses. In this way the Bauhaus became a global motor for new developments in society, culture and politics.

This book is the official companion to the Guggenheim Museum exhibition Countryside, The Future. The exhibition and book mark a new area of investigation for architect and urbanist Rem Koolhaas, who launched his career with two city-centric entities: The Office for Metropolitan Architecture (1975) and Delirious New York (1978). It's designed by Irma Boom, who drew inspiration for the book's pocket-sized concept, as well as its innovative typography and layout, from her research in the Vatican library.
The book brings together collaborative research by AMO, Koolhaas, and students at the Harvard Graduate School of Design; the Central Academy of Fine Arts, Beijing; Wageningen University in the Netherlands; and the University of Nairobi. Publikace je věnována přestavbě reprezentačních sálů v severním křídle Pražského hradu, k níž došlo v souvislosti s uvažovanou královskou korunovací Františka Josefa I. Na základě rozsáhlého archivního průzkumu rekonstruuje průběh stavebních prací, zabývá se autorstvím projektu a zodpovídá otázku, do jaké míry jsou oba prostory produktem 19. století a co je naopak zachováno ze starší výzdoby. Analyzuje stylovou fyziognomii obou reprezentativních interiérů, zkoumá jejich funkci jako symbol dynastické tradice a legitimity, rekonstruuje historický a sociální kontext přestavby. Art Nouveau developed in very different forms between the 1880s and the First World War, starting in Western Europe.
