Ktoré budovy sú krásne? Z filozofického hľadiska je táto otázka skôr okrajovou témou. Verejne sa však o nej diskutuje zoširoka a často kontroverzne. Günter Figal vo svojej knihe využíva takéto debaty ako podnet na hľadanie spoľahlivých kritérií pre estetické hodnotenie architektúry – kritérií, ktoré platia rovnako pre krásne staré budovy ako aj pre krásne nové. Kedy je budova umeleckým dielom? Aby to mohol rozhodnúť, Figal objasňuje, čo vlastne budova je a ako možno presnejšie určiť jej krásu. Svoje úvahy ilustruje na viacerých rozličných príkladoch: na stavbách Franka Lloyda Wrighta, Ludwiga Miesa van der Rohe, Le Corbusiera, Chipperfield Architects, Petra Zumthora a Kenga Kumu – na obytných domoch, múzeách a kostoloch, na meditačnom dome, cisárskej vidieckej vile v Japonsku a na konferenčnom centre vo Weil am Rhein. Ray Milland (1907–1986) was the inaugural Welshman to win the Best Actor Academy Award, as well as a performer boasting a rich and varied oeuvre from the silent era in 1920s Britain to New Hollywood in the 1980s.
