The four walls that we inhabit are far more than just a roof over our heads - it's the place where our personal and unique life is played out with all its complexities and nuances. It is not uncommon when we move to feel regret that we cannot simply take our abode, the focus of our lives, along with us. For many people it is increasingly important to be able to move easily, to be able to react spontaneously to personal desires or life changes of all kinds. Because of the increased needs to both preserve our identity that is rooted in our home and to be more geographically mobile, the market for "movable" houses has grown and diversified. V překotném životě tvůrčího architekta na ně nebývá vždy čas ani síla.
Ale pokud si troufáme posouvat se kupředu v evolučním vývoji světa, musíme se občas vracet k jeho základním atributům. A hledat jejich podstatu a výklad pro momentální čas, v němž budoucí dílo teprve vzniká.
Tato publikace by si považovala za čest, kdyby mohla být byť jen pomůckou, která pomůže otevřít určitou v ní popsanou oblast myšlení.
Je určena architektům, studentům, developerům, a hlavně všem, kteří rádi myslí.
Samozřejmě svůj vlastní výklad problému si musí každý tvůrce ujasnit sám.

Gio Ponti

Sculptural Structures Eero Saarinen's new dimensions The creator of the ubiquitous Knoll "Tulip" chairs and tables, Eero Saarinen (1910-1961) was one of the 20th century's most prominent space shapers, merging dynamic forms with a modernist sensibility across architecture and design. Among Saarinen's greatest accomplishments are Washington D.C.'s Dulles International Airport, the very sculptural and fluid TWA terminal at JFK Airport in New York, and the 630 ft. (192 m) high Gateway Arch of St. Louis, Missouri, each of them defining structures of postwar America. Catenary curves were present in many of his structural designs. During his long association with Knoll, Saarinen's other famous furniture pieces included the "Grasshopper" lounge chair and the "Womb" settee. Married to Aline Bernstein Saarinen, a well-known critic of art and architecture, Saarinen also collaborated with Charles Eames, with whom he designed his first prize-winning chair.
