Saarinen
Sculptural Structures Eero Saarinen's new dimensions The creator of the ubiquitous Knoll "Tulip" chairs and tables, Eero Saarinen (1910-1961) was one of the 20th century's most prominent space shapers, merging dynamic forms with a modernist sensibility across architecture and design. Among Saarinen's greatest accomplishments are Washington D.C.'s Dulles International Airport, the very sculptural and fluid TWA terminal at JFK Airport in New York, and the 630 ft. (192 m) high Gateway Arch of St. Louis, Missouri, each of them defining structures of postwar America. Catenary curves were present in many of his structural designs. During his long association with Knoll, Saarinen's other famous furniture pieces included the "Grasshopper" lounge chair and the "Womb" settee. Married to Aline Bernstein Saarinen, a well-known critic of art and architecture, Saarinen also collaborated with Charles Eames, with whom he designed his first prize-winning chair. With rich illustration tracing his life and career, this architecture introduction follows Saarinen from his studies to training to his most prestigious projects, and explores how each of his designs brought a new dimension to the modernist landscape.

Preto kniha približuje aj históriu moderného kremačného hnutia v Európe so zreteľom na dlhý zápas mesta Bratislava o krematórium, ďalej sa zaoberá domácimi a zahraničnými architektonickými podnetmi, ktoré ovplyvnili architektúru objektu. Okrem príbehu samotnej budovy a urnového hája, v ktorom stojí, sa dočítate o tvorivej dráhe autora budovy, architekta Ferdinanda Milučkého, príslušníka prvej povojnovej slovenskej architektonickej generácie, ale aj súvislostiach vzniku pozoruhodných výtvarných diel z areálu krematória - sôch od troch špičkových slovenských výtvarníkov. Schulek Frigyes
Schulek Frigyes (1841-1919) neve általában csak a Mátyás-templom és Halászbástya építészeként ismert. Származása, személyisége és életútja kicsit homályban van, csakúgy mint a többi alkotása. Mozgalmas diákévei után, majd a budapesti Műegyetemen eltöltött egy év után a bécsi Képzőművészeti Akadémián tanult. Itteni legnagyobb hatású professzora, a bécsi Stephansdom építőmestere, Friedrich Schmidt elkísérte pályája nagy részén, hiszen a Mátyás-templom három évtizedes restaurálása alatt is többször kikérte tanácsát.
Hazatérése után 1872-től a Műemlékek Ideiglenes, majd állandó Bizottságának építésze lett, s így a magyar műemlékvédelem hőskorszakának meghatározó egyénisége. Munkásságában a műemlék-helyreállítások nem váltak el jellegükben az új épületek tervezésétől: mindig a középkor építészetének bűvöletében alkotott. Helyreállításai közül legjelentősebb a visegrádi Salamontorony, a jáki templom, az ákosi templom és a pozsonyi ferences templom, de bővítette a deáki templomot és a lőcsei Városházát. Új épületei közül a szegedi református templom és a Fogadalmi templom a legkiemelkedőbbek. Néhány elképzelése csak papíron maradt fenn. Emellett
nagyhatású oktatói munkásságot fejtett ki a pesti Mintarajztanoda, majd a Műegyetem professzoraként is.
Farbakyné Deklava Lilla könyve elsőként mutatja be a 19. század második felének egyik legjelentősebb magyar építészét és műemlék-helyreállítóját, akinek munkássága európai mércével is figyelemre méltó. A kötet számos, eddig nem ismert tervet, fényképet és családi dokumentumot is publikál.
