CCCP Cosmic communist constructions photographed
In this volume photographer Frédéric Chaubin reveals 90 buildings sited in fourteen former Soviet Republics which express what could be considered as the fourth age of Soviet architecture. They reveal an unexpected rebirth of imagination, an unknown burgeoning that took place from 1970 until 1990. Contrary to the twenties and thirties, no “school” or main trend emerges here. These buildings represent a chaotic impulse brought about by a decaying system. Their diversity announces the end of Soviet Union.

Nejen slova

Kniha je určena nejen těm, kteří se podílejí na samotném procesu výstavby (architekti, projektanti, stavitelé, pracovníci stavebních úřadů), ale také samotným stavebníkům a uživatelům. Může být využita zároveň k výuce studentů středních a vysokých škol a pomůže též organizacím zastupujícím zájmy osob s handicapem.

Génius Milana Knížáka
Říká se, že doma není nikdo prorokem. Vždy když slyším toto přísloví, vzpomenu si na Milana Knížáka. Umělec a teoretik umění známý a oceňovaný na celém světě je doma vnímán spíše jako recesista a provokatér. Svým uměleckým dílem vzbuzuje závist a averzi méně schopných a kreativních kolegů. Na protest proti tomuto stavu a také proto, že Milana Knížáka považuji za jednu z největších světových osobností, inicioval jsem vznik této knihy, včetně přiložených nosičů, a navrhl její název. Předpokládám, že takto ucelený souhrn ukázek z jeho mnohovrstevnaté tvorby (dílo je tak rozsáhlé, že každý prezentovaný soubor vždy zůstává jen torzem) ukáže odborné i laické veřejnosti její velikost, komplexnost a rozmanitost. Věřím, že každý, kdo se s ní seznámí, reálně zhodnotí její hodnotu a význam.
