Príbeh architekta Ladislava Eduarda Hudeca (1893 – 1859) je vzrušujúcou históriou jedného ľudského i tvorivého zápasu v prvej polovici 20. storočia, odohrávajúcou sa na pozadí dvoch svetových vojen. Banskobystrický rodák Ladislav Hudec vytvoril svoje najlepšie diela v Šanghaji, dnes vyše dvadsaťtrimiliónovej metropole Číny. Monografia predstavuje jeho život a tvorbu prostredníctvom bohatého fotografického materiálu, prináša informácie o jeho staviteľskej a architektonickej kariére získané predovšetkým zo šanghajských archívov, z archívov University of Victoria v Kanade a z pozostalosti rodiny. Vyšla pri príležitosti 120. výročia Hudecových narodenín z iniciatívy neziskovej organizácie Centrum architekta Ladislava Eduarda Hudeca – C. A. L. E. H., n. o.

Magyarországon a 2014-es esztendőt az Építészet évének nyilvánították Ybl Miklós kétszáz éves születésnapja alkalmából. Emellett fontos kiemelni azt is, hogy idén száz éve, az első világháború kezdetével ért véget a magyar építészet egyik legragyogóbb és leggazdagabb időszaka. Ami azonban véget ért, az nem múlt el: az ebben az időszakban létrehozott művészetből sokat merítettek a következő generációk. Ez a könyv tisztelgés az elmúlt háromszáz év jól vagy kevésbé ismert nagy építészei előtt, akik maradandó alkotásaikkal gyarapították a magyar kultúrát. At the beginning of the 20th century, the department store developed from markets and urban arcades, from which the shopping mall evolved in the post-war period. The operators of department stores and shopping centers are coming under increasing pressure from the competition of the continuously growing internet trade. By the same token, however, there is also an increasing tendency for the internet trade to become involved with real shops. The challenge is to optimize the quality of the customers stay. This is accomplished by the interspersing of the offer by cultural institutions, a variety of dining opportunities and exciting leisure activities. The time spent in a department store or a shopping center must be conceived as an experience, separate from the consumption of goods, which engages all the senses. Which is where architectural quality as well as a targeted design can play an increasingly important role.
Protektorátní Praha jako německé město
Záhy po zřízení Protektorátu Čechy a Morava se české obyvatelstvo stalo cílem rozsáhlé vlny germanizace. Mezi prostředky využívanými ke zdůraznění nacistické dominance nemohla chybět ani nacionálním socialismem preferovaná architektura.
Ke germanizačním zákrokům využívali nacisté v protektorátu stávajících státních institucí.
V případě architektury a urbanismu se jednalo o organizaci původně založenou s cílem Prahu modernizovat – Plánovací komisi pro hlavní město Prahu a okolí. V jejím čele se postupně vystřídalo několik německých architektů a urbanistů, kteří se Praze snažili vtělit ráz ne nepodobný přestavbám Berlína, Norimberku či Lince.
Publikace českého historika Miloše Hořejše představuje první systematické zmapování této pozapomenuté kapitoly našich novodobých dějin.
