Otto Šujan
Otto Šujan začal študovať na Slovenskej vysokej školy technickej v Bratislave a neskôr pokračoval v štúdiu na Vysokej škole múzických umení, kde skončil odbor scénografia. Navrhoval scény prevažne pre činohru, ale aj hudobné divadlo, operetu, muzikál i operu. Pri väčšine Šujanových scénických návrhov je charakteristická triezva farebnosť, no najmä neobmedzené množstvo nápadov ako rozšíriť a premeniť, zdynamizovať hrací priestor.
Často navrhoval scény pre netypické priestory, malé štúdiové divadlá. Priestor skôr vyprázdňoval než zapĺňal, neraz si vyslúžil pochvalu za pohyblivosť, premenlivosť scény, historicky verné prostredie. Predkladaná publikácia o Ottovi Šujanovi predstavuje prostredníctvom textu, množstva fotografií aj pôvodných autorských návrhov scén dielo a život jedného z najvýznamnejších scénografov na Slovensku.
How to Study Public Life
How do we accommodate a growing urban population in a way that is sustainable, equitable, and inviting? This question is becoming increasingly urgent to answer as we face diminishing fossil-fuel resources and the effects of a changing climate while global cities continue to compete to be the most vibrant centers of culture, knowledge, and finance.
Jan Gehl has been examining this question since the 1960s, when few urban designers or planners were thinking about designing cities for people. Moderné a/alebo totalitné v architektúre 20. storočia na Slovensku
Publikácia prináša podrobné informácie o vybraných špičkových dielach architektúry 20. storočia na Slovensku, pričom odkrýva zaujímavé a doteraz neznáme historické, spoločenské a kultúrne súvislosti ich vzniku. Jiří Balcar
Jiří Balcar (1929-1968) patřil do okruhu teoretika Jindřicha Chalupeckého, koncem padesátých let byl jedním z průkopníků české poválečné abstrakce a kaligrafie, po návratu z několikaměsíčního tvůrčího pobytu v USA (1964) se jako jeden z prvních českých umělců obrátil k pop-artu.
Paradoxní polarita vyostřeného existenciálního pocitu a humoru ho řadí k umělcům, jejichž výpověď komentovala absurditu a odcizení soudobé společnosti. Tato monografie Balcarovo dílo nově zhodnocuje a poprvé je ukazuje v celé šíři; zahrnuje jak volnou, tak užitou tvorbu, neboť jeho přínos v oblasti knižních úprav, ilustrací a návrhů plakátů je zásadní. Práce pojednávající o talentovaném královéhradeckém architektu Vladimíru Fultnerovi (1887-1918) představuje cenný příspěvek do materiálové a analytické báze pro výzkum dějin moderní české architektury na počátku 20. století. Fultnerovy návrhy a realizace z té doby dovolují usuzovat na jeho mimořádné nadání a vůli k formovému experimentu. Domácí historiografie mu však dosud věnovala pozornost jen velice okrajově. Kniha proto dokumentuje Fultnerovy životní osudy od dětství stráveného ve východočeské metropoli, přes jeho krátkéa absolutoriem nezavršené studium na pražské technice, následnou uměleckou praxi, aktivní podíl na kubistické epizodě, až k tragické smrti ve válečné vřavě.
Autor k Fultnerovým známým počinům v Hradci Králové a Jaroměři připojuje další, nově objevené práce, a to i z oblasti grafického designu a zejména funerální architektury. Na základě důkladných rozborů pak vyvozuje charakteristiku Fultnerovy tvůrčí osobnosti a ukazuje jeho nikoliv marginální roli na české umělecké scéně.
Marcel Pencák (1975) pochází z Hradce Králové, k němuž ho pojí silný patriotický vztah. Vystudoval historii na Filozofické fakultě Univerzity Karlovy v Praze u prof. Roberta Kvačka. Za diplomovou práci o prvorepublikové státní správě získal Cenu E. Beneše. Na stejné škole absolvoval doktorandské studium dějin architektury u prof. Rostislava Šváchy. Odborné texty publikoval v Českém časopise historickém, Umění, Architektu či sborníku Královéhradecko. Vladimíra Fultnera představil veřejnosti již autorskou výstavou v hradeckém Muzeu východních Čech. V současnosti žije v Praze a pracuje jako nakladatelský redaktor.
