Ylla: The Birth of Modern Animal Photography
Ylla (1911-55) devoted herself exclusively to animal portraiture at a time when no one had thought of only photographing animals. Driven by her symbiotic relationship with animals, she created a new genre in animal photography: the expression and personality in animals.
Ylla: The Birth of Modern Animal Photography recounts the eventful odyssey of a "New Woman" par excellence, fearless and knowing no limits. She was part of artists' circles in Belgrade and Paris, however during WWII she fled to New York via Marseille where she started her career again from square one. Originally taking beguiling photos in her studio and zoos, Ylla finally traveled to Africa and India where she died in a tragic accident during a water buffalo race. Her Animals in Africa and Animals in India are some of the first books on the subject. Ylla also introduced photography to children's literature. Her books The Sleepy Little Lion and Two Little Bears are juvenile classics. This book details her remarkable life and work.

Kniha fotografií Vladislava Galgonka vychází jako šestý díl edice Olomoučtí fotografové, na které spolupracuje Vydavatelství Univerzity Palackého s Muzeem umění Olomouc. Vladislav Galgonek (*1946 v Českém Těšíně) absolvoval lidovou konzervatoř (1967–1969), obor reportážní fotografie (1981–1985). Fotografuje od dětství, systematicky od roku 1967, profesionálně od roku 1971 jako fotograf-výtvarník na dole Odra v Ostravě. Od roku 1973 působí jako redaktor-fotoreportér ČTK v oblastní redakci v Olomouci. Zúčastnil se řady výstav v ČR i zahraničí, zejména se skupinou H 70 (Ostrava, Havířov), a uspořádal autorské výstavy: Hukvaldy 1976, Uničov 1984, Jeseník 1985, Havířov, Uničov 1987, Olomouc 1990, Šternberk 1992, Olomouc 1996, 1999. Zúčastnil se celostátních a mezinárodních fotografických výstav a soutěží, publikuje své snímky v ČR i zahraničí.
From Within, Down and Above/ Od znotraj dol in od zgoraj
Kniha, vycházející ke stejnojmenné retrospektivní výstavě Aleksandry Vajd v Museum of Contemporary Art Metelkova +MSUM v Lublani (8. 12. 2023–5. 5. 2024), mapuje komplexní dílo pětadvacetileté tvorby této významné umělkyně a pedagožky, která na UMPRUM působila 15 let jako vedoucí Ateliéru volného umění IV. Úkolem publikace je obsáhnout klíčové problémy a metody – individuální a kolektivní vztahy, složitost času, kolážistické přístupy, autoreferenčnost, materialitu a ontologii média fotografie. Harry Benson. The Beatles
In early 1964, photographer Harry Benson received a call from the photo editor of London’s Daily Express, who asked him to cover the Beatles’ trip to Paris. It was the beginning of a career-defining relationship, which would both make Benson’s name and produce some of the most intimate photographs ever taken of the Beatles.
In Paris, Benson captured the Fab Four in the midst of a pillow fight at the George V Hotel, a spontaneous moment which came to epitomize the spirit of the band—Benson himself has called it the best shot of his career. Later that year, he followed the group on the road for their debut U.S. tour, documenting their appearance on The Ed Sullivan Show, their surprising encounter with Cassius Clay, and the hysteria of New York Beatlemania. Benson also photographed George Harrison’s honeymoon in Barbados, documented the Beatles on the set of their debut movie A Hard Day’s Night, and was present on the now infamous 1966 tour when John Lennon said that the Beatles were “more popular than Jesus.”
