Depeche Mode
In November 2020, Depeche Mode were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, and Dave Gahan, accepting the honour, said: "I'd like to thank Anton Corbijn who thank God came in at the right time and actually made us look cool." Album 1958–1977
Nakladatelství Torst vydává jako svou 700. publikaci fotografickou knihu Bohdana Holomíčka Album 1958–1977, která přináší na 176 stranách 238 snímků z prvního dvacetiletí jeho tvorby. Jedná se o druhou z řady knih s jednotícím názvem Album, která mapuje jeho fotografické dílo. První z nich, Album Václav, vyšla v roce 2016 a zachycuje Václava Havla od roku 1974 až do smrti v kruhu nejbližších přátel, se spisovateli, divadelníky, s manželkou Olgou, ale i s českými a světovými politiky. Fotografie Bohdana Holomíčka jsou již po více než šedesát let intimní kronikou životů mnoha lidí, které potkal. Vyprávějí o tom, že každý člověk je jedinečný a že lidský život má smysl. Jeho snímky přinášejí do života lidí radost, touhu prožívat každý okamžik naplno, vidět krásu a inspiraci ve všední každodennosti. O tom svědčí i jeho strhující osobnost. Teoretička umění Hana Buddeus ho jednou oprávněně nazvala „apoštolem lásky“. Historička fotografie Anna Fárová ho charakterizovala jako „fotografa přátelských setkání, zachycujícího pozitivní situace, okamžiky milosti, záblesky lásky za magického přispění světla“. Historik fotografie Antonín Dufek napsal, že „jeho fotografie jsou často přirovnávány k deníku, ale jak čas běží, stále víc se ukazuje, že je to spíš památník a kronika. Památník vzniká v komunikaci s ostatními a slouží také jejich paměti. V Holomíčkově případě jde o autobiografii, která se však stává i generační výpovědí; jeho snímky jsou sice subjektivní, mají ale obecnou platnost a reflektují vzpomínky celé společnosti.“
Trpaslík
Fotografická kniha Trpaslík sleduje putování postavy Světlonoše, odehrané Petrem Niklem a zachycené fotografem Ondřejem Szollosem mezi lety 2014 - 2015. Je koncipovaná formou prozaické básně, vizuální jazyk se v ní prolíná s textovými úryvky.
Snímky vznikaly za ranního či večerního šera v okolí Prahy, Máslovic, Komáří Vížky a pobřeží Atlantiku u New Yersey.
Casa Susanna
Brings together a wealth of research and an expansive selection of photographs to create an enduring account of America’s first-known trans network, Casa Susanna.
In the 1950s and '60s, an underground network of transgender women, gender nonconforming people, and men who dressed as women found refuge at a modest house in the Catskills, New York. Known as Casa Susanna, the house provided a safe place to express their true selves and live for a few days as they had always dreamed?dressed as and living as women without fear of being incarcerated or institutionalized for their self-expression.
Casa Susanna opens up that now-lost world. The photographs?mostly discovered by chance in a New York flea market in 2004?chronicle the experiences of these women in states of relaxation, experimentation, connection, and joy. All of this was made possible by Susanna Valenti who?on her own journey toward womanhood?created Casa Susanna, a protected space where others could do the same. Supplementing the images, excerpts from the magazine Transvestia record a different kind of space where those who had been outcast by a rigidly binary society could connect.
The people who came to Casa Susanna found a space where they could explore and celebrate their own and each other’s femininity, as they could not elsewhere. Their creations are also a reminder that there were, and still are, many ways to explore the boundaries of gender.

Ruth Orkin - Photofile
Ruth Orkin (1921–85) always dreamed of becoming a filmmaker, and although that ambition was thwarted until later in her career, she quickly found other ways of engaging with the world of images. She was given her first camera at the age of ten and by the age of seventeen, she was cycling across America from Los Angeles to New York, documenting her trip in albums of annotated photographs. In the early 1940s she settled in New York, joining the Photo League and making her name with photo stories for major magazines such as Life, Look and This Week.
In images that range from celebrity portraits to bird’s-eye views from her apartment window, from children at play to the experiences of a lone American tourist in Italy, Orkin’s photography always retains a cinematic sense of the passage of time and allows the humanity and charisma of her subjects to shine through.

Fényben-árnyékban
Az egész úgy kezdődött, hogy a Jóisten gépet adott a kezembe, amikor egy izgalmas emberrel találkoztam. A gép soha nem érdekelt. Az ember igen. Csak megnyomtam a gombot, s már filmen volt az élmény. Ez tetszett nagyon. Később kiderült, hogy túl hosszú "záridőt" állítottam be - lassan ötven éve exponálok. A gép közben átvette fölöttem a hatalmat. Élményekkel kellett etetnem folyamatosan. Csak akkor maradt nyugton, ha elvittem északra és elvittem délre. Ha bevittem fényes palotákba és füstös konyhákba. Ha táncoltunk részeg zenészekkel, sírtunk kopott költőkkel, és nagy formátumú színészekkel szidtuk hajnalig a világot. Fetrengtünk a művészet fennkölt mocsarában, hittünk magunkban és egymásban, s nem engedtük közel magunkhoz mások gondolatait.
De megváltoztak a nappalok és megváltoztak az éjszakák. A világ nagy robajjal átvonult felettünk. Mindannyian meghemperegtünk kicsit a sárban, aztán lassan felálltunk és továbbléptünk. Ha mocsár volt, hát mocsár volt. Mégis igazgyöngyök lapultak már a zsebeimben. Szolgáltam tovább a gépemet.
Egyszer azonban addig ismeretlen világra villantott. Hogy az ajtó magától nyílt ki, vagy kinyitották nekem, már nem tudom, de kiderült, hogy ezer kilométerre az otthonomtól is beszélik azt a nyelvet, amelyen nap mint nap álmodom. Pedig Apám szülői házában ritka volt a magyar szó. Svábul beszéltek - ha vendég jött, németül. De most Anyám nyelvéről beszélek. Az édes anyanyelvemről. Kopott költőim, regényes napjaim, székely és csángó barátaim, emigrációban élő íróink nyelvéről. Különös sorsok, ízes történetek csalogattak városról városra. Felpörgetett, színes napok vártak rám. Sokkal több füstös konyha, mint fényes palota.
Végül felfedeztem újra a hitemet. Ráébredtem, hogy az ember nemcsak azért jár templomba, hogy Istennel beszélgessen, hanem azért is, hogy önmagával.
Man Ray
Rays of Light
Man Ray, multitalented master of modernist imagery
Man Ray (1890–1976) was a polymath modernist, working in painting, sculpture, film, printmaking, and poetry. But it was his work in photography, with nude studies, fashion work, and portraiture that saw him pioneering a new chapter in the history of camerawork and art.
With a wide-ranging collection of both his famous and lesser-known works, this monograph gives a vivid overview of Man Ray’s multifaceted practice and photographic legacy. It traces Ray from his artistic beginnings in New York through to his central role in the Parisian avant-garde, where he featured in the first Surrealist exhibition with Jean Arp, Max Ernst, André Masson, Joan Miró, and Pablo Picasso and produced such now iconic works as Noire et blanche and Le Violon d’Ingres. Through numerous examples of still life, portraiture, and beyond, we see how Ray constantly experimented with new techniques, pushing photography out of its documentary domain into ethereal, poetic expressions through multiple exposure, solarization, and the particular brand of photograms he wittily termed “rayography.”

Nábrežie, Šafárikovo námestie, Staromestská ulica a ďalších šesť destinácií mapuje priestor, ktorý autor pozná už od detstva. Ich neustále premeny citlivo prežíva a zachytáva v čiernobielej fotografii.
V knihe „PEŠIAK v šachovnici Bratislavy“ prostredníctvom 114-tich fotografií nastavuje zrkadlo súčasnej bratislavskej realite. Fotografie pravdivo zobrazujú skutočnosť, niekedy nelichotivo so smútkom, niekedy s obdivom, ale vždy s láskou a úctou.

A Budapesten született fotográfus, Robert Capa 1948 őszén készített riportot szülőföldjéről egy amerikai magazin számára. A szovjetizálódó Magyarország fotókkal gazdagon illusztrált bemutatását a fordító, Fisli Éva utószava és jegyzetei segítenek elhelyezni a korban.
Capa riportjában izgalmasan keverednek az otthonosság és az idegenség, a szórakoztató stílus és a tragikus történelmi események egymásnak ellentmondó rétegei: "Vidám utunk volt. Csaba mindent tudott a földről, Rózsa bácsi minden tudott az útszéli vendéglőkről, ahol jó bort és fűszeres kolbászt adtak. Útközben Teddy White okos kérdéseket tett föl a termés minőségéről, az ifjú Csaba egy stencilezett pamfletet olvasott a kapitalizmus hanyatlásáról és bukásáról, Rózsa bácsi pedig pajzán dalokat énekelt, és két nóta közt olykor kulákellenes beszédeket rögtönzött. Én fordítottam."
Gótikus templomok a történelmi Magyarországon
A gótika a középkori kultúra virágzásának kora volt, amely során lélegzetelállító építészeti alkotások készültek Európa-szerte, és természetesen Magyarországon is. A magyar történelem hagyatékát fényképezőgépével hosszú évtizedek óta megörökítő Kaiser Ottó fotográfus új albumában a történelmi Magyarország területén fellelhető gótikus remekműveket mutatja be. A kecses, égbe törő építményeken és az ezeket ékesítő szobrokon és festményeken keresztül feltárul előttünk a középkori Magyarország fénykora, Nagy Lajos, Zsigmond és Mátyás király uralkodása. Bár a török megszállás évtizedei és a történelem más viharai alaposan megtépázták a gótika örökségét, Kaiser Ottó fotói ékesen tanúsítják a gótikus építményköltemények időtlen szépségét.
