Circesque
"Circesque" is a celebration of an idea Christian Tagliavini had in 2008 and resulted in his photographic series of the same title produced in 2019. Exploring the world of the circus, this specially crafted book is a unique invitation for the reader to form their own stories through exquisitely detailed costumes, unexpected props, and a glimpse of the people behind the greasepaint and powder.
"Circesque", explores the untold lives of circus folk. Stripped of the tired clichés of circus life, these mise-en-scéne portraits reveal the human behind the archetype. The images betray the protagonists’ innermost feelings as they mount the platform, put themselves on the line, and take the risk: all under the watchful eye of their audience. Acrobats. Trapezists. Josef Sudek-Otto Rothmayer: Návštěva u pana kouzelníka
Kniha Josef Sudek / Otto Rothmayer: Návštěva u pana kouzelníka vychází ze stejnojmenné výstavy konané v roce 2021 a 2022 ke 125. výročí narození Josefa Sudka a 55. výročí úmrtí architekta Otto Rothmayera v Uměleckoprůmyslovém museu v Praze. Publikace čtenáře zavede jednak na Pražský hrad – společnou lásku obou přátel – a jednak do architektovy vily a její nevelké zahrady v břevnovské ulici Na Bateriích, jež se ve čtyřicátých až šedesátých letech 20. století staly místem setkávání skupiny spřízněných umělců a přátel. Útočiště v neklidné době a inspiraci pro svou tvorbu tu nacházeli například i Josef Kaplický, Bedřich Stefan, Hana Wichterlová, Vladimír Studený, Pravoslav Rada či René Roubíček. Josef Sudek zde pořídil celou řadu fotografií, které pak řadil do několika cyklů, například do sérií Procházka po kouzelné zahrádce, Vzpomínky, Malé vzpomínky či Poznámky. Velký soubor Sudkových prací – kontaktní kopie a fotografické pigmenty – doplňují tzv. puřidla a veteše, na jejichž originální adjustaci se Sudkem spolupracoval právě Otto Rothmayer a jež jsou dnes ceněny jako nejprogresivnější příspěvek světové fotografii. V ukázkách kniha připomíná též práce samotného hostitele i společných přátel ze sbírek Uměleckoprůmyslového musea v Praze, Muzea hlavního mšsta Prahy, Národního technického muzea v Praze, Muzea umění Olomouc a soukromého majetku.

Yevonde

Yevonde (1893-1975) was a businesswoman and tireless creator, as an innovator committed to colour photography when it was not considered a serious medium, her work is significant in the history of British portrait photography. Yevonde championed photography during a time where there were few women photographers working professionally, and this book tells the story of her life, works, and 60-year career.
Yevonde: Life and Colour brings the photographer's works together again for the first time in 20 years and features previously unpublished works. This book showcases her experimentation with a range of techniques and genres including colour photography, portraiture, still-lifes, solarisation, and the Vivex colour process, and repositions her as a modern artist of the twentieth century.
This highly illustrated publication provides in-depth context to Yevonde's images, considering their aesthetic and mythic references. Yevonde's portraits embody glorified tradition countered with a desire for the new. Her most renowned body of work is a series of women dressed as goddesses posed in surreal tableaux from the 1930s.

In 2020, an extraordinary trove of nearly a thousand photographs taken by Paul McCartney on a 35mm camera was re-discovered in his archive. They intimately record the months towards the end of 1963 and beginning of 1964 when Beatlemania erupted in the UK and, after the band's first visit to the USA, they became the most famous people on the planet. The photographs are McCartney's personal record of this explosive time, when he was, as he puts it, in the 'Eyes of the Storm'.
1964: Eyes of the Storm presents 275 of McCartney's photographs from the six cities of these intense, legendary months - Liverpool, London, Paris, New York, Washington, D.C. and Miami - and many never-before-seen portraits of John, George and Ringo. In his Foreword and Introductions to these city portfolios, McCartney remembers 'what else can you call it - pandemonium' and conveys his impressions of Britain and America in 1964 - the moment when the culture changed and the Sixties really began.

Daido Moriyama
Widely considered Japan's most influential and prolific photographer, Daido Moriyama has been challenging conventions of the art form for more than a half century. This exhaustive and electrifying retrospective, published in cooperation with the Daido Moriyama Foundation and based on entirely new research, looks at every stage of Moriyama's extensive career, including his extraordinary images as well as his conceptual contributions to photography.
One of a generation of postwar Japan's groundbreaking artists, Moriyama has continually established his own visual grammar. This book features more than 250 chronologically arranged images that reveal his constantly evolving career: his early editorial work of the mid-1960s, focused on the American occupation and the experimental theater; his radical experimentation of late 1960s and the 1970s; the self-reflexive photos of the 1980s and 1990s; and his ongoing exploration of cities, among other relevant moments. It also includes more than 400 spread reproductions of Moriyama's rarely seen publications, mapping the sources of his visual production.

Bíločerná Praha
Španělský fotograf narozený a žijící v Praze. Fotografování se začal věnovat až v hluboké dospělosti a dnes se věnuje převážně černobílé fotografii. Kniha obsahuje černobílé fotografie Prahy, pořízené v letech 2006 až 2023 během častých procházek ulicemi magického města. Anna Atkins - Cyanotypes
At the dawn of the Victorian era in her open-air laboratory in Halstead, Kent, Anna Atkins embarked on a radical experiment to document botanical species using a completely new artistic medium. The inimitable cyanotype photograms of algae and ferns she created were made into the first books to feature photographic images. Striking yet ethereal, these albums are a perfect synthesis of art and science.
Although the cyanotype technique was discovered by her friend John Herschel, Atkins was the first to realize both its practical purpose for her own interests in botany and taxonomy, and its intriguing artistic potential. The process, which involved fixing the object on sensitized paper and exposing it directly to sunlight, results in the Prussian blue pigment that forms the unmistakeable backdrop to these artworks.
Atkins' albums British Algae (1843-1853) and Cyanotypes of British and Foreign Ferns (1853), the latter of which was produced with her friend Anne Dixon, are works of remarkable rarity. Reprinted here in their entirety for the first time, they reveal her mastery of multiple disciplines: While the cyanotype process allowed Atkins to meet the challenges of accurate representation, the delicate contours of the specimens, set above the intense blue background, has lent the images a timeless aesthetic appeal.
This edition, drawing extensively from the copies of the New York Public Library and J. Paul Getty Museum, has carefully compiled cyanotypes from several sources to reprint Atkins' seminal works in full. Over 550 cyanotype impressions are accompanied by a series of introductory essays from Peter Walther, placing Atkins' work in its scientific and art-historical contexts and paying rightful tribute to the groundbreaking contributions of a female pioneer.

Cole, who is often referred to as an inventor, uses a raw, hands-on photographic process that is consistent with her belief that the possibilities of photography are virtually limitless.
Since the early 1980s, she has channelled her appreciation for the camera itself. She is dedicated to the history of photography by deviating from automatic cameras and techniques. Barbara Cole uses photography to play with notions of time, place, and identity.
In her numerous series, Cole often asks the questions: how do you paint an image of timelessness? How do you capture the feeling of weightlessness in an image?Her ethereal photography takes on a quintessential painterly quality, with the transformation of figures a predominant theme in her work. Over the past 30 years, although she works with traditional photographic means, Cole's approach and aesthetic has become closer to that of a painter. The artist's work focuses on a powerful narrative, some with external motifs and others with intense figure transformations that alone tell the story.
Cole's background in fashion and fashion editorial naturally leads to a process that channels her experience into creating a particular atmosphere with costumes and backdrops.
