A magyar himnusz mindannyiunk kiemelt szellemi öröksége: nemzeti imádságunk, mely a magyarság mindenkori összetartozását hivatott jelképezni. Kölcsey Ferenc költészeti remeke (a Hymnus), e kiemelkedően megrendítő költemény, s Erkel Ferenc ehhez írt pályaműve (a Hymnusz) közösen alkotja azt a kulturális-szellemi-vallási hármas-egységet, melyet mindannyian csak himnuszként, a magyarság féltve őrzött unikális kincseként emlegetünk. Ki gondolná, hogy 115-fajta krumpli létezik a világon?! A háziasszonyok többsége beéri 2-3 fajtával, és ennyi elég is: a "lisztes" fajtából készülnek a zúzott-tört-püré ételek, a "nem szétfövő" fajtából az egyebek, a kiflikrumpliból pedig a saláták. Ez a könyv, bevallom, tisztelgés az ezerarcú, szerény krumpli előtt, amely számtalan erénye folytán, így vagy úgy, omlós jóságok vagy abbahagyhatatlan ropogtatnivalók formájában, szüntelenül jelen van életünkben.
