Ve svých memoárech Nějaké otázky?! se ruský spisovatel a básník, zakladatel a dlouholetý předseda sdružení bývalých politických vězňů „Vozvraščenije“ Semjon Samuilovič Vilenskij (1928–2016) vrací k období let 1948–1955, která prožil v sovětských věznicích a táborech Gulagu, především pak v oblasti Kolymy na Dálném východě. Svůj text navíc prokládá sondami jednak do období dospívání, v nichž mapuje okolnosti vedoucí k uvěznění, jednak do doby po propuštění, kdy začal se systematickým sběrem materiálů dokumentujících tragické dějiny Kolymy. Kniha je sestavena z řady mikropříběhů, které se v průběhu četby propojují do logického celku. Autor byl v době svého věznění velmi mladý, i v tom jsou jeho vzpomínky jedinečné – nechybí v nich láska, humor, víra v ostatní lidi. Součástí knihy je též výbor z Vilenského poezie, která rovněž čerpá z tematiky vězení, utrpení a nucených prací.
Semjon Vilenskij pocházel z Moskvy, kde začal roku 1945 studovat filologii. V roce 1948 byl zatčen, obviněn z protisovětské agitace a teroristické činnosti a odsouzen na deset let nápravněpracovních táborů. V průběhu vyšetřování byl mimo jiné tři měsíce vězněn v moskevské věznici Suchanovka, proslulé krutým fyzickým i psychickým trýzněním zatčených. Po vynesení rozsudku byl transportován na Kolymu. Propuštěn byl v roce 1955, do Moskvy se mohl vrátit až v roce 1963. Prakticky ihned po návratu založil s několika přáteli neformální sdružení bývalých politických vězňů „Kolymskoje tovariščestvo“. Roku 1990 se stal předsedou nově zaregistrovaného Moskevského historického a literárního sdružení „Vozvraščenije“, jež se jednak snažilo shromáždit, uchovat a prezentovat písemná svědectví bývalých vězňů Gulagu, jednak se zasazovalo o finanční pomoc desítkám stárnoucích a většinou nemajetných pamětníků-politických vězňů. Díky Vilenského zarputilosti a pracovitosti spatřilo světlo světa několik převratných knih – edice dokumentů Děti Gulaga (Moskva 2002), antologie lágrové poezie Poezija uznikov GULAGa: antologija (Moskva 2005), antologie lágrových vzpomínek Dodněs ťjagotějet (Moskva 1989, 2004) nebo čítanka lágrové literatury pro středoškoláky Jesť vsjudu svět (Moskva 2000).

HILLARY: Growing up, I knew hardly any women who worked outside the home. So I looked to my mother, my teachers, and the pages of Life magazine for inspiration. After learning that Amelia Earhart kept a scrapbook with newspaper articles about successful women in male-dominated jobs, I started a scrapbook of my own.
