Posádka obklíčené Vratislavi (dnes Wroclaw), tehdy největšího německého města na východ od Berlína, se z Hitlerova rozkazu nesměla vzdát. Ze všech německých „pevností“ sovětské přesile odolávala vůbec nejdéle, od poloviny února až do počátku května 1945.
